Remember that strange artist who stood stock still while rap magnate Jay Z freestyled (or whatever he was doing) in an art museum last year?
Performance artist Marina Abramovi? told Spike magazine that Jay Z promised to build an art institute if she let him steal her shine for her work The Artist is Present for his ridiculously long and dull music video “Picasso Baby”.
Marina said she agreed because she thought Jay Z was going to cut her a phat check.
But when no check was forthcoming, she went on an epic rant accusing the aging rapper of using her.
The story got lots of press in the media and on the blogs yesterday.
Sandrarose.com didn’t pick up the story, because everyone knows Jay Z and his belly dancer wife Beyonce only cuts checks when it benefits them from a PR standpoint.
But just one day later, Marina apologized profusely for misjudging the father-of-3.
It seems Jay Z did cut that check after all, but someone at Marina’s art institute forgot to tell her the check was cashed and already spent.
That person should be fired for giving Jay Z’s haters more fuel to roast him.
The institute hastily released a statement yesterday begging Jay Z for his forgiveness — and perhaps one more check for old times’ sake.
