Actor Charlie Sheen plans to announce he is the promiscuous HIV positive actor who has bedded a plethora of A- and B-list actresses, adult film stars, and m2f transvestites.

As someone who works in HIV and public health: ^^^ that statement is an all out lie, and this entire post is stigmatizing to people who live with HIV. African-American men who have sex men as well as transgender people of color bear the brunt of new HIV diagnosis today and there has been 0 studies (out of the hundreds conducted) that there is a correlation between “down low” men and recent HIV infections in women. Please let the CDC, HRSA, HHS be your guide, because you have a platform. And you’re using this platform to promote stigma and incorrect information.

Years ago when I started my current job, I was lunching with some co-workers. One was telling us some celeb gossip she learned from her aunt who was a longtime editor at People Mag. All that to say that just because we’ve never heard it before doesn’t mean it’s not true or that others don’t know about it. And it’s just as easy for a women to “give” HIV to a male through anal sex, and HIV can be transmitted via vaginal intercourse as well, although it’s not as likely.. Again, 0 proof to support your claim. And that’s coming from someone who advocates for HIV/AIDS policy/funding on a federal, state, and global level.

As a counselor I have seen many women and men shocked at this age that they have a STDS. They are the most shocked as well as teenagers . With the women in their 50s they typically date men after being divorced or widowed and they have unprotected sex. Many men who have been in the closet for years don’t plan on coming out! Preachers, pastors, athletes, politicians, actors, businessmen don’t want to be outed and will deny it until they die or get caught. Not everybody is on the LGBT bandwagon. Women and men need to be educated and not from TV Guide. Read literature and a few medical journals. It’s a requirement for me but should be taken seriously by anyone sexually active.
