Martin Luther King’s first grandchild was born in an Atlanta hospital on Sunday. The girl, named Yolanda Renee King, is the daughter of Martin Luther King III and his wife, Arndrea Waters King, the family said in a statement.
The newborn weighed in at 7.5 pounds. Her birth comes two years and two days after her parents were married.
“We are excited about our precious gift from God and cannot express how fortunate we feel to have our beautiful baby girl. It is truly the happiest day of our lives. I know my parents are smiling down from heaven,” the new father said in the statement released by Matlock Advertising and Public Relations, which works with the King family.
The baby was named after King’s oldest daughter Yolanda who died last year. (Source)

Congrats are in order!!! All children are a blessing.
You know it’s funny..you would have thought he would honor his mother before his sister..but they were both dear to him..congrats on a healthy baby!
common now 2bme Yolanda is bad enough but Coretta for a baby born in 2008.lol. That is asking to be picked on at school.
Congrats MLK III and Mrs. MLK III !!!!
lol..the baby is third generation in a civil rights family, it could work..now I know a little boy named Dekaboodah..his mama is itching to be slapped!
Finally!!
Congrats!!
Oh my Dekaboodah. Yeah she needs to be slapped. I bet you they call him Boodah for short which I think is one of the most awful nicknames. My kids know that once we step out the house nicknames are not to be used lol. How many kids answer to Boo and Pooh bear haha.
congrats to the MARRIED couple… 2bme, that mother needs to be pistol whipped for that mess!!!
Congrats!
Congrats…but how old is he? Just asking. I’m surprised that this is the 1st granchild. Children are a beautiful blessing.
So Coretta isn’t that bad is it? lol..There was a little girl in a youth program I was helping with who just had a baby. this child herself was 13 years old. We asked her what her baby’s name was and she said(this is how it’s pronounced) absidee..now GUESS how it’s spelled..and it’s NO LIE

My theory is their mother wanted her kids to her self. That one Of the King children is finally married and being blessed with a child he named after his sister, is suggestion to me that Mrs C Scott King did not want her kids to marry or have kids because she did not want the family name to be a burdeun on her (sons/daughter in-law or grandchildren.
What are the odds that a mother has children and it isn’t until she passes away that one gets married.
Not odds and all. Respect.
ooh just saw my typo I meant come on. @Anna
I heard that Mrs King did not want her kids married also. I guess they respected her wishes.

Wow. You got all that from the birth of a child? Maybe they tried and tried and they discovered that he had a low sperm count. Maybe she couldnt conceive because of a fibroid. Everybody wants some juicy stuff when it may not even be all that. Just be happy that he isnt calling her “his peeps”
congrats to them both! i’m thinking when the child grows up and has King behind her name…and her dad comes to school and it’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s son…is enough in itself…amen..amen.
STOP IT #7!!!
I have a grown azz cousin named Pooh Bear, and I swear my auntie still calls him that no matter where he is. I think he’s either in his late 20’s or early 30’s LOL!!!
congrats.
Congratulations to the King family, children bring blessings
