A bankruptcy judge has ordered rapper 50 Cent to return to court and answer to accusations that he is hiding his assets.
Judge Ann Nevins ordered the narcissistic mogul to explain a series of photos he posted on Instagram showing an endless supply of cash.
The 40-year-old rapper, who was born Curtis Jackson, ran afoul of the bankruptcy court when he flaunted hundreds of thousands of dollars in photos on his Instagram account.
One of the photos he posted shows Jackson using $200,000 in cash to spell out the word ‘BROKE’.
Other photos show stacks of cash in a refrigerator and the rapper lounging on a bed with bundles of cash strewn about him.
“I’m concerned about allegations of nondisclosure and a lack of transparency in the case,” Judge Nevins said at a hearing Thursday in Hartford, Conn. “There’s a purpose of having a bankruptcy process be transparent, and part of that purpose is to inspire confidence in the process.”
The judge added that bankruptcy is for the “honest, but unfortunate” individual to get a fresh start.
The photos were provided to the court by Lastonia Leviston, rapper Rick Ross’ ex-girlfriend who won $7 million in a judgment against Jackson for posting her sex-tape online.
Jackson filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy a day before a jury decided damages in the sex tape case last summer.
The father-of-2 also owes $18 million to Sleek Audio and Suntrust bank.
Jackson’s lawyers accused Leviston of using the incriminating photos to “disingenuously smear” their client.
The lawyers claim Jackson is merely using the cash as props to promote his false image as a millionaire rapper.
“[Jackson] is in the entertainment and promotion business and must maintain his brand and image,” his lawyers wrote in court documents.
A lawyer for Sleek Audio told Judge Nevins that Jackson was hiding income earned from recent appearances and rap recordings.
But Jackson’s lawyer, James Berman, disputed the allegations at Thursday’s hearing.
“All his income was reported,” Berman told the judge.
No date is scheduled for Jackson to return to court.
If you are saying that you are broke, don’t post wads of cash spelling out the word “broke”, on Facebook no less! That was such a dumb move. He deserves everything he gets.
First Meek, now him. These boys are asking for their money to get snatched.
Welp….Curtis got some essplanin to dewwwww
Whoever whatever judge believed this fool was “broke” wins the biggest moron of the year award and we just started 2016 -_-“.
Stupid.
Curtis, Curtis, Curtis and I can say is bye Felicia.
A fool and his money are easily parted!
It’s kinda ironic that his stage name is 50cent ,he must have looked into the future of his bank account when he gave himself that name. Dummy!
I would tell them on behalf of my client prove that money is real,Prove when the picture was taken, prove that a picture editing app did not produce the effect. It is on the court to prove whatever it is they are accusing him of. He is an arrogant man with low self esteem. Most people claim bankruptcy as a business move. They should get aggressive find out where he is hiding his assets. Search is home, any unusual increase in a friends bank account. I would focus on the son and her mother. They could force him to produce the money he had in the picture if not send him to jail on fraud.
So he keeps telling the world he’s broke but his lawyers defence of these pictures is that he has to maintain the image that he’s a millionaire….im a little confused, his action contradict his defence
“I would tell them on behalf of my client prove that money is real,Prove when the picture was taken, prove that a picture editing app did not produce the effect.”

These are excellent points!
Maybe 200k is all he has left??
Hope he can explain this one. SMH!
He shuda spelled out Stupid.
So maybe he removed all the cash and really stash it inside his home. When they will check his bank assets, won’t they see him retrieve a large lump sum??
This is beyond me, you did wrong Time to pay up!!
Then he need to hid it in the bed mattress and not spread it out all on the sheets. If you tryna claim broke, that ass betta play the part.
Poor impulse control has ruined many lives.
Why Thank you!
He’s such an idiot, why is he trying to present a “false millionaire rapper image”, when the court filings are public information? On one hand, you tell the court, where you’re obliged to tell the truth, that you’re broke. Then on the other hand, you want people to believe you’re a millionaire. Who does he think he’s kidding? I hope he is ordered to pay over even more money. A fool and his riches are soon parted.
I’ve said this before. You have to prove that it’s real money. Could be props. He took it from the set of Power. Who knows. Millionaires file bankruptcy all the time to reorganize. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are on the curb broke. Trump files everytime his wig blows to the north. Yah. Yah. Yah. Curtis likes to be seen. It’s the rapper way. Next!
He is a fool smh
She didn’t smear him, he smeared himself but posting those photos. He gets no sympathy from me.
50cent is a dumb negro lol…. Just pay your debts bru
ha… thats true. They can’t prove that it isn’t movie set money, from POWER HAAA
I was just about to post this. His lawyers talk too much, lol. But 50 Cent has to get smarter or they wont be able to help him.
Dumb as hell! Stay off twitter and get yo mind right
Hey fiddy!
I forgot about the show is on. I think a lot of rappers, or wannabes are using “funny money” Didn’t some rapper get busted doing that? Can’t think of his name but he was on LHHLA he was dating Teddy Rileys daughter
somebody need to rob this clown
posted a pic of his refrigerator full of cash…no food though
Lmao he should’ve spelled stupid!
Dumb manchild and a dumber judge.
Lawyers lie and they instruct their clients as to how to appear in court to downplay their situations in cases like this. I knew this judge would be made aware of his social media antics. I’m glad.
Curtis was wearing a G-Shock watch to court. Then, he would be on social media wearing pounds of jewelry. Judges don’t like people making a mockery of them or the legal system.
I am certain he didn’t report all of his income. I am also certain that the cash he posts is legal tender, not some fake “props” for the purpose of maintaining his image.
I hope the judge throws his case out. He wants to waste the court’s time and take this process as a joke. Let the joke be on him. Don’t allow him 5 years to pay people who’ve already been waiting years for their judgments to be paid. Seize his assets and sell them if necessary, but make him pay every penny.
Yes. Solja, suljah, soulja boi (sp). Then there were some who said they paid this much for a car and the place they leased it from put them on blast. Some jewelers have called out fake pieces or over due bills. The whole arena is now based on bravado and braggadocio. It’s the rappers way of life ?. So cliche.
this man-child is in desperate need of a long hug. clearly he didn’t get enough stickers and attention in his younger years. i hope he is eventually humbled by a hit to them pockets and/or the slammer
Big dummy! His is fingering his nose at the justUS system and they are gonna make an example out of his black ass! Who the hell does he think he is? Donald Trump?
he is the Dumbest man besides Kanye. these fools deserve all they get.
Him and soulja roach are friends
His next charge is going to be tax invasion. The use of cash to hide his true earnings…damn fool!
Dear 50, You’re a negro you can’t play the same games , the white man plays and expect to win. The system isn’t set up like that fifth, you should know that even in a Benz you’re still a nigga in a coupe. Pay what you owe butthole! Run that woman her money!
Thank you!! I was wondering when the court was gonna start looking at this man’s social media accts. We all see him flossin cash, making jokes about how broke, not broke he really is.
Okay? That’s why I was like these judges and lawyers don’t know what he does on IG and Twitter…..I said the same thing you said, I totally agree.
Idiots think they are brilliant, that’s 50. It’s good for him, let Lastonia get her money and see if she will go broke or naw.
Dear 50ty stop with the shenanigans or soon you’ll be a window shopper….
Of course the judge doesn’t believe he is “broke”. The courts don’t care about this measly $200,000 that he is trying to floss in these lame photos. That’s not issue. The issue is that he claims that he does not have the 25 million to pay his lawsuits plus other debts that he owes, which is probably the truth. But at the same time, he is trying to stunt for the public to plant this false perception that he is really P Diddy rich, but just doesn’t want to pay his lawsuits. And people foolishly believe it. 50 is not broke in the sense that he might have ten million or so in assets and the courts know this. But I also believe that he is truly in financial trouble, yet he is trying to play this dangerous game of roulette by trying to keep up appearances for the public…like the judge said, she is concerned with his “lack of transparency”. He better quit while he is ahead before they they throw his stupid arse in jail for fraud.
What a douche!
So I guess you have 200 grand laying around your house ??
The issue is he became” broke “after that lawsuit to Rick Ross baby mama and he refuses to give her a dime .he will never be broke because he owns his own publishing. The one percent will never let someone hit lotto over a tape. He will just wait it out until her lawyer settlesfor a significantly lower amount.
Yes.
Actually, all parties to the litigation AND the court DO care about a “measly” $200,000. Once the judgments were entered against him, ALL of his assets became subject to distribution to his creditors. The creditors are not limited to attaching the ENTIRE amount of the judgment in one fell swoop. They can take AS MANY OF HIS ASSESTS AS THGEY CAN GET THEIR HANDS ON, with court approval. He will soon learn this the hard way if the court finds he has NOT been transparent in reporting all of his assets. With a judgment in place, the court has the right to attach ALL CASH, ALL FUTURE EARNINGS, and ALL PROPERTY, except for any income or items that are deemed exempt. CASH in the fridge is NOT exempt.
Sosha media and ignance don’t mix.
Well let me reword because it’s like trying to explain something to a piece of lint in these comment sections. I am not here to debate the legality of his case. My only point is that 50s bankruptcy filing is not because he doesn’t WANT to pay his debts, it’s because he really CANT pay them. Yet, he is trying to make the public believe that he is the one getting over on the bankruptcy courts. There are already judgemts against him and and as you pointed out, his creditors can use enforceable means to try and get their money and if they were to do that, he would be wiped out. Hence, the reason for the bankruptcy protection. 50 is not as wealthy as he would like for people think. He’s playing too many games and I hope the bankruptcy judge denies his request to discharge his debts. Ill still be a fan of Power though.
Yeah and I just had breakfast with barney the dinosaur
How can you be so smart but yet so stupid? Keep playing Curtis, you going to jail!!!
IG gonna get you dumb asses messed up…keep playing.
Thats what I talking about…go to Philly or Chicago with that showoff shyt…jacked!!!
So his “brand and image” can’t include fiscal responsibility?
His publishing rights are an asset that can be attached just as all of his other assets can. They are not exempt. And make no mistake, he WILL be broke in just a few short years.
They cannot enter your publishing into any judgement I think the guy is smarter than people give him credit for.
You’re wrong. I don’t know where you obtained your law degree, but mine is from New York University School of Law.
Since he has filed bankruptcy subsequent to a final court award of damages, it is usually up to the Bankruptcy trustee to determine whether his publishing rights, as intellectual property, are exempt from attachment. The Trustee will normally took to, among other factors, whether the property is generating significant royalties. In many instances, the debtor is allowed to pay OVER TIME where royalty revenue is concerned.
Of course, since 50 Cent is such an unadulterated a$$hole, he bitched about the payment plan that was offered. Hopefully, his showboating will prompt the court to demand he begin selling off his assets, INCLUDING HIS PUBLISHING RIGHTS, to satisfy his creditors, rather than be permitted to pay over time.
The intent of Section 203 was to give authors and artists a second shot at reclaiming rights they assigned earlier in their careers, when they probably had little leverage against far bigger labels and publishers. But the provision, part of Congress’ historic rewrite of the Copyright Act in 1976, is far from simple. Willis’ reclaiming of Village People works survived a legal challenge last year from the publisher who held the rights, Scorpio Music, but the complicated nature of creative production could be setting the stage for a legal morass.
I copied and paste but like I said they cannot use your publishing in any judgement they will take your cars they will take your platinum albums but they cannot take your creative works and if he sold his rights his estate will get the rights back anyway.
I’m sorry, did you say you were a bankruptcy lawyer? Chapter 11 bankruptcy does not require selling off his assets. I think you meant Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
This is an example of part of the reason Joe and there’s a Guidice were found guilty. Backruptcy fraud and hiding mo ey and assets.
We have to pay our debts so he should ha e to pay his. His may be on a larger scale but the effect is still the same.
Well, this “piece of lint” has a law degree from a top 10 law school and has worked at some NY’s top law firms in NY, so I think I can manage to comprehend your “explanations.” Everyone knows why the cretin filed bankruptcy — because he wants to avoid meeting his legal obligations, after subverting the rights of others. He has behaved like an A$$ for all of his adult life and now that a$$holerey has come back to bite him in the behind. Whether he WANTS to pay or not, if he keeps acting like a jerk, the Trustee will recommend that any of his non-exempt assets be SOLD. He has judgments against him, and only he and his dumb-as-a-stump fans believe he is somehow above the law when it comes to the execution of said judgments.
Bankruptcy for celebs and bankruptcy for reg folks with 9-5 struggling to make ends meet are two diff things. Curtis n em ain’t really broke they can pay it they just don’t feel like it
50 is faaaaaaaar from broke.
This is ridiculous!! He needs to pay that woman instead of continuously laughing in her face. He thinks messing with other peoples lives is funny!
Entertainment purposes only** lol
i love me some 50 but he’s real dumb nowadays
Why is he so stupid? He just signed a deal with STARZ to produce like two more shows. I want him to win in life but he’s just too childish.
I see his #twitterfingers have gotten him into some trouble…When will these people learn
When will these clowns learn???? Social media ain’t for erthang!
When you file BK, you can’t thumb your nose at the trustee with antics. You gotta lay low. Hopefully they dismiss his case. He’s only doing this to avoid paying RR baby mama.
No one ever caused him of being brain surgeon but he should pay just like everyone not file bankruptcy then show money that would be good start!! He is not special and our judge needs to spank him!!! Let them repo his fridge!!!
In my Fred Sanford voice; “YOU BIG DUMMY!”?
