A 22-year-old gang member has been charged in the brutal shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee.
Dwight Boone-Doty was being held on an unrelated weapons charge when he was arrested in the death of the popular student. Boone-Doty is believed to be the trigger man in the Nov. 2 shooting.
Chicago police arrested Corey Morgan, 27, in November. A 3rd suspect, 22-year-old Kevin Edwards, is still on the loose. Police believe he may be in Iowa. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Daily Beast — [Boone-Doty] was also charged in the fatal shooting of another woman, identified as Brianna Jenkins, just weeks earlier. Police say Tyshawn Lee was shot to death after being lured into an alley and was allegedly targeted because of his father’s gang ties. Investigators are looking into whether Lee was murdered in retaliation for his father’s possible involvement in the deaths of at least two members of a rival gang.
