Bishop Eddie Long has lost his battle with cancer, a New Birth Baptist Church spokesperson confirmed in a statement on Sunday. He was 63.
The church released a statement on Sunday, saying Mr. Long waged a “gallant private fight with an aggressive form of cancer.”.
The controversial preacher was the subject of many rampant rumors in his final months. He reportedly suffered from an aggressive form of duodenal adenocarcinoma (cancer of the small intestine), according to a church insider.
Duodenal adenocarcinoma is rare and deadly because it is often caught too late and spreads rapidly. The prognosis for this form of cancer is poor.
Since the tumor is located at the beginning of the small intestine, it sometimes blocks food from entering the intestine from the stomach.
Long is survived by his wife, Vanessa Long, his four children and three grandchildren.
Vanessa Long released a statement on Sunday, saying “I am confidant through my belief in God that my husband is now resting in a better place. Although, his transition leaves a void for those of us who loved him dearly, we can celebrate and be happy for him, knowing he’s at peace.”

I just wanted to address HIV eventually turning into AIDS. Not all cases progress to AIDS. There are carriers and people who have been exposed, yet have never contracted the virus or are undetectable. In addition, there are those who are positive and have been for many years, even decades, and are still positive because their load has never fallen and they have not had any secondary illnesses.

The “new covenant ” was established so the Israelites and their descendents could get back into the kingdom. They broke the first one , so the most high established another one to not only cover them but their descendents as well. The first one was established with moses in Egypt. With this new covenant you have to become the word and follow the laws. Have them written in your heart . Christ isn’t the most high nor can he save you from gods wrath. Knowthyself73 – this is where studying the Word and reproofing it for yourself comes in because if you are weak in the Word you may not be able to grasp what I’m about to share with you. In a figurative way the answer is yes but it is not karma from the child’s sins but the sins of the parent.

What God is saying is that if a father misleads his family, the family will pay for it. Each will have to pay for their own sins but the father could have prevented many of the sins that his children and grandchildren would fall into had he led his family in obedience to the Law of God.

First of all, Exodus 20:5 is very specific about whose children he is referring to. He is specifically talking about the children of those who hate Him. It’s not talking about just any ole sinner. Now surely you don’t believe that every child with cancer has parents who hate God? That would be totally un-Biblical not to mention completely ridiculous. (How then would you explain the children of Christians who get cancer?)

And your example about the drinking pregnant woman is a very poor one. The baby’s suffering is a direct result of the mother’s actions, not because of a punishment from God.
Several men in his family have also died of cancer at around the same age, including his brother who died of cancer several years ago. It runs in his family. I think people just want it to be AIDS because they think it would be a just punishment, and because it makes for a more salacious story.
With full blown AIDS cancer may be what takes you out due to the immune system being shot, Cancer is actually a virus. So they are not lying about him having cancer…you just wanted to hear brought on by being HIV positive and eventually diagnosed with full blown AIDS. I live in Atlanta it was easy for him to settle out of court because they were at the age of consent all while living in the house he paid for and cars in his/church name. MY GOD ONE EVN HAD HIS NAME/initials tattooed on him, instead of that being in favor of the accuser it actually become in favor of Eddie Long. All this not being judgemental is something the church still teaches. This is a internal struggle for them…THEY TOO WERE TAUGHT THAT GAY IS WRONG, YOU MUST REPENT, ASK FOR FORGIVENESS. Which we can all see many aren’t trying to live by that.
They still supported him because they believed in the Bibles teachings. BEL and New Birth did many things for people who didn’t belong to the church too. He paided off homes, paided for a 18mths of rent so single mothers/families wouldn’t be homeless, got them jobs and paid for training and/or school/college, what the churches use to do and suppose too do! He even opened up a private school etc. At one point other districts were mad at him because they felt he was giving to schools who didn’t need, mainly South West Dekalb. Wesley Chapel and Lithonia, GA is not poor by a long shot. Unlike “Please give me a dollar Creflo” whatever they bought, own you got tax information so you could do or claim whatever on your taxes. Creflo wanted you to turn in your W2’s to see just how much you make, can you pay your tithes? So yes they forgave him or never believed it to begin with. Because the Bible told them so…even BEL had many sermons about this very thing. I’m just telling you what Atlanta knew and watched unfold before us.

Why would you say that? You don’t think God forgives, and if that is the case I guess all of us will be going to hell. No one sin is greater than the other one. And just to keep it real, no one has transitioned anywhere until the second coming, so right now he is just a body in the ground.
