The biological mother of Angelina Jolie‘s adopted daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt is publicly appealing to the actress to let her reconnect with her little girl.
Jolie, 41, adopted Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005, when she was just six months old.
Zahara’s grandmother indicated in the adoption paperwork that the baby’s mother, Mentewab Lebiso, died of AIDS.
But Lebiso came forward and revealed she was very much alive — and wanted to meet her daughter, who she admitted was “very fortunate” to join Jolie’s brood.
The actress did not publicly respond to Lebiso’s plea, according to WENN.com, but now the desperate mother is trying again to get to know Zahara, who turned 12 earlier this month.
“I just want her to know that I am alive and here and long to be able to speak with her,” Lebiso tells DailyMail.co.uk. “I do not want my daughter back but just to be in contact with her and be able to call her up and talk with her.”
Angelina has yet to comment on Lebiso’s latest efforts to reach out to the star.
Jolie is currently adjusting to life as a single mother of six, following her split from husband Brad Pitt in September.
She recently rented a second house in Malibu at a reported rate of $35,000 a month. “The kids go back and forth between the two houses, and she also has nannies and staff that stay at both,” an insider tells Us Weekly.
“The kids have been utilizing the pools at both houses when the weather is nice, and the second house has a tennis court where they can skateboard and play ball. Angelina spends most of her time at the first house, but she likes to have options and be able to move everyone around.”
