Almost all parents have a favorite child, even if they refuse to admit it.
Music manager Mathew Knowles — father of singers Beyonce and Solange Knowles — says he most proud of his youngest daughter Solange’s achievements.
Beyonce’s father says he is a “little more proud” of her younger sister Solange because Solo is humble and she achieved success “her own way” — without stealing the ideas of others.
“(I’m) a little bit more proud of Solange, and I’ll tell you why: because she chose to do it her way,” he told the Fox 26 news network in Houston, Texas. “In the beginning, we wanted to mold her into this pop star, and that is not who she is and we were wrong; I was wrong, the record labels were wrong. She had a record deal (with a major label) and she said, ‘I don’t want it.’ She wanted to do it her own way, and she did.”
Solange won her first Grammy award for her critically acclaimed 2016 album A Seat at the Table, which earned the 30-year-old her first #1 ranking on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
Beyonce famously fired her father in 2011 on the orders of her controlling husband, rap mogul Shawn “Jay Z” Carter.
