Former Miss Kentucky USA Kia Hampton was arrested after she was caught smuggling drugs to her man who is serving time in an Ohio prison. Hampton, 28, was arrested in May. She faces arraignment next week.
According to the NY Daily News, Hampton illegally transported marijuana into the Allen Correctional Institute back in May. She allegedly smuggled the weed to inmate Jeremy Kelly.
Hampton was arrested the same day and indicted earlier this month on the third-degree felony charge. She will be arraigned on July 26. She faces three years in prison if convicted.
Often times incarcerated drug dealers utilize their girlfriends or female associates as drug mules.
Hampton was crowned Miss Kentucky USA in 2010 at age 21. She was the first black or mixed race American to hold the title of Miss Kentucky.
