Jay-Z defended LaVar Ball‘s decision to launch his own Big Baller Brand footwear to compete with NIKE brand. Jay-Z backed BBB by ordering 3 pairs of ZO2 sneakers for $1,000 a pair!
Jay-Z told Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson and B.Dot that he’s backing Big Baller Brand because it’s important for him to support black businesses.
In an interview with TNN TV over the weekend, Jay-Z said of LaVar Ball:
“That man has a vision of his own. Why wouldn’t I support him? Why wouldn’t I support him? He feels like he can move culture, and his son got a big enough name, and a big enough brand, that they can do it. Nike had to start somewhere. Why do we get so upset when we, us as a culture wanna start our own shut? that sh-t is puzzling to me. Like, I sit back and I;m like: this makes no sense.”
LA Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball was spotted shopping at Louis Vuitton in Beverly Hills over the weekend. When asked about Jay-Z’s endorsement of his Big Baller Brand, Lonzo was blown away.
“I’m just thankful man. Appreciate it,” he said, adding that he doesn’t oversee the business end of the Big Baller Brand. “I just play basketball man. I don’t handle that.”
Lonzo also said although he’s never met Jay-Z, he wanted to thank him and let him know that the coveted basketball shoes will arrive sooner than later.
