Actor Isaiah Washington, left, says Terry Crews is being blackballed by Hollywood for not handling a certain touchy situation like a man should have done.
Washington, 54, says Crews is blackballed in Hollywood after he publicly accused talent agent Adam Venit of fondling his genitals in front of his wife at a party.
The 49-year-old actor made the accusation on Twitter.com last month. Since then he has not found work as an actor.
Crews claimed he didn’t check Venit at the time of the groping because he feared going to jail. But others criticized the actor for his inaction, saying he should have checked Venit right there and then without resorting to violence.
Venit was suspended as head of William Morris Endeavor Agency for 30 days. He returned to work on Nov. 27.
Washington agreed with a TMZ video reporter that Crews is being “railroaded” in the industry.
“It looks like people are trying to pick sides. Uh, it looks like someone is trying to do a favor for someone who doesn’t deserve the favor,” said Washington in a video published by TMZ Tuesday.
Washington said Crews is a “victim” who clearly has done nothing wrong. “That’s like victimization on top of victimization,” he said.
In November, Crews called out film mogul Russell Simmons for asking him to give Venit a pass.
Simmons, 60, was later accused of sexual misconduct by 2 women. He announced he was stepping down from his empire and HBO removed his name from its ‘All Def Comedy’ TV series.
Crews was born in Flint, Michigan where he was raised mainly by his mother, Patricia Crews. His father, Terry Crews, Sr., was an abusive alcoholic who was absent during much of his son’s childhood.
