Omarosa Manigault Newman appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America on Thursday.
In an interview with host Michael Strahan, Manigault Newman denied rumors that she was escorted out of the White House after screaming obscenities at White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly.
Manigault Newman, 43, confirmed she resigned from her position in the Office of Public Liaison. Her resignation takes effect on Jan. 20.
She also denied reports that Kelly restricted her access to President Trump in the Oval Office or the WH private residence.
“No, first of all [Gen. Kelly] brought order, much needed order, to the West Wing,” she said. “If the president called us and wanted to talk to us, then we went to talk with him. I went into the Oval [Office] to talk with the president anytime he called me.”
Strahan then asked if she had to be called into the Oval Office or if she went in on her own.
She replied: “Absolutely, the president, as you know, reads a lot of news, he watches a lot of news. If he had a question about something that he saw, and he wanted information, he would call us.”
The former “Apprentice” star said she didn’t abuse her 14 year relationship with President Trump by barging into his office whenever she wanted to. But she did admit that other White House staff were jealous and envious of her easy access to the president.
“If I had to ask him about something, I was very respectful of the process,” she continued. “Certainly I had more access than most, and people had problems with that. People had problems with my 14-year relationship with this president.”
