West Coast rapper Nipsey Hussle stopped by The Breakfast Club on Thursday to promote his new album Victory Lap, which dropped last week. He discussed the gang culture and Cardi B‘s Instagram faux pas that nearly cost her her life.
Nipsey, 32, explained the gang terminology and said words like “flue,” which Cardi used in a photo caption, belong in private conversations, not on Instagram.
“I like Cardi B! Anybody that doesn’t like Cardi B a hater! Her personality is golden, but wrong is wrong right is right bro,” he said. “For the record, that’s how bloods talk. Bloods say ‘crab,’ bloods say ‘flue.” Crips say ‘slob,’ crips say ‘dead.’ If I was with all my homeboys I’d be like bro get me a ‘deadbull’. That’s how we talk. But I be intentionally respectful on a record because we’re talking about a public environment which is the music industry.”
He also explained that the unfortunate demise of legendary rappers such as Tupac resulted from rappers not separating their gang banging from their business relationships.
Speaking indirectly to Cardi B, Nipsey said, “We saw what happened with Death Row. You gon’ set trip in public? You gonna get caught on camera squabblin’. You gon violate while you worth 300 million, Suge Knight. You gon’ go to the pen. Pac, you gon die. Right or wrong, that was gangbangin and set trippin publicly. We’d be bad leaders to recreate that.”

This man studied w/ Dr. Sebi, was signed to a label then negotiated that if the label didn’t push his album forward he would leave without contest. He went independent again and got the most notoriety from being an indy artist. Then turns back around with more capital to make a partnership with another label. He’s one of the first rappers to knowingly invest in crypto currency. He mentioned a book called “The Spook Who Sat By The Door” written by one of the most prolific authors in the 60’s.
