NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr. says signs of his youngest son EJ Johnson’s cross-dressing appeared early. Magic, 58, discussed his son’s homosexuality and flamboyant style during an episode of Fox News series OBJECTified.
A teaser clip shows Magic discussing his son’s cross-dressing lifestyle with TMZ founder Harvey Levin.
Magic confirmed his son wore Disney Princess dresses as early as preschool. Little EJ spent most of his childhood with his mother (Magic was often on the road playing basketball).
“It was difficult in the beginning because I thought he would play sports and do the things that I did — like his dad,” said Magic.
“And then to see him in dresses but also wigs [nervous laugh]… So I said ‘Okay, is this is who he is or something he plays, plays… dress up.'”
In a previous interview, Cookie Johnson said Magic broke down and cried when his son officially came out as gay to him.
It was one thing for EJ to play dress up in his mother’s clothing, but Magic apparently had a difficult time accepting his son’s homosexuality.
Many parents confuse cross-dressing with homosexuality. Statistics show that most cross-dressing boys grow up to be heterosexual men, many of whom are married or in committed relationships with women.
Magic and Cookie share adopted daughter Elisa Johnson, 23. He also has a son, Andre Johnson, 37, from a previous relationship.
