The mother of a 6-month-old baby who was kidnapped and burned to death last Tuesday was arrested in connection with her son’s grisly death.
Police arrested Hannah Barker, of Natchitoches, LA, after she gave conflicting stories about the day her son, Levi Cole Ellerbe, was abducted and murdered.
Natchitoches Police Department previously arrested Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith, 25, and charged her with first-degree murder in the baby’s death. Both women are being held without bond.
Police say Barker and Smith followed each other on Facebook.com, and multiple Facebook users alerted police that the women were involved in an intimate relationship.
Barker told police she was at home with Levi on July 17 around 9 p.m. when two men knocked on her door. She said when she opened the door, the men sprayed her with mace, and she fled the home, leaving Levi behind.
Barker said the baby was gone when she returned home about 2 hours later.
About 10 p.m. that night, a neighbor called 911 to report an object burning on railroad tracks near Breda Avenue, a few blocks from Barker’s home.
Police discovered the baby suffering from severe burns at 10:30 p.m. He was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police listed Barker as the “actual perpetrator of a crime,” according to CrimeOnline.com.
Barker is a single mother who also has two daughters younger than 12.
