While one rapper continues to defend her questionable parenting skills, Kanye West‘s friends are praising him for being a doting dad to his 3 children, including daughters North, 5, Chicago, 8 months, and son Saint, 2.
Soon after announcing he was moving back to his hometown of Chicago, Kanye sent for his only son. Since moving to the Windy City, father and son have been inseparable.
In an interview with Us Weekly, singer Teyana Taylor praised Kanye, 41, for his hands on approach with his children.
“He’s such a great father,” gushed Teyana. “We always share different tips of how we handle our kids and different things like that. It’s good. He’s overall a good guy,” said Teyana, who shares 2-year-old daughter Iman Shupert Jr., aka Junie, with NBA star Iman Shumpert.
Teyana, who is signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music label, said Junie has play dates with Kanye’s 3 children.
“It’s crazy because we’re always so busy,” she tells Us Weekly. “They just kind of meet on set. Whatever set we’re on, he brings his kids, I bring my daughter, and they kind of just get up like that.”
Kanye deleted his Twitter and Instagram pages following the public backlash to his show of support for embattled President Trump during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last weekend.
Teyana said Kanye’s “intentions are good,” even if he may not come across that way on social media.
“We’re in a world where everything is only one minute long,” she said. “You’ve got a minute to get your point across. I think his soundbites are very, very, unfortunate. He’s one of the people where you have to just sit in a room and really just talk to him, and at the end of a four-hour conversation, you understand him a little bit better.”
