Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is catching flack from all sides for his controversial decision to campaign in Europe and the Middle East.
The fact that Obama is campaigning in Europe — and pretending that he isn’t — has made him the butt of jokes in the British media. “He ventured forth to bring light to the world,” read one headline in a British newspaper. Another British paper, The Times writes:
And it came to pass… that a Child appeared in the wilderness.
The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.
Yesterday, there was a rumor that Obama blew off a visit to American troops at a military hospital in Afghanistan. But Obama’s camp blamed the Pentagon for the confusion.
The Pentagon issued a statement today denying the Obama camp’s claims that the Pentagon flat out refused his request to visit the troops. Of course there’s always two sides to a story. Here’s The Pentagon’s side according to spokesman Geoff Morrell:
Sen. Obama is welcome to visit Landstuhl or any military hospital in his official capacity as a United States senator. But there is a DOD policy which governs campaigning and electioneering at military facilities that would have to be respected if he were to visit. That distinction was relayed and made clear to campaign, and they made a decision on their own based on that guidance.“
In other words, the decision was Obama’s not to visit the troops. The Pentagon’s position is that Obama is welcome to visit the troops as long as he brings along his senatorial staff and not his campaign staff. But Obama is traveling with his campaign staff which means he is traveling as a presidential candidate and not as a US senator.
So why not just come clean and admit that he’s campaigning over in Europe? What’s Obama’s hidden agenda? I mean, do we really need a president who is at odds with the Pentagon? Especially in this post-9/11 era. I’m just saying.
Sandra I’m starting to think you down with the other side…you know anit-democrat j/k
stop doing what they doing and insulting this man….to me he already know he president….he just doing what he thinks a president should do…unite with other countries

AMEN!
Ditto!
GO OBAMA!
He isn’t campaigning. He is touring Europe to strengthen what naysayer’s believe is his weakest stance, foreign policy.
He said in Berlin yesterday that he was there as a “citizen of the world” YES WE CAN!!!
Wow Sandra you must be a die hard Republican.
I believe that what need most in a Post 9/11 World is a President that can strengthen our ties with other countries. I believe he’s doing the right thing.
I personally am a little hesitant to believe most of what the pentagon has to say anyway.
GO OBAMA!!!!
Well dang I am glad that he is doing something provocative and productive. Most everyone else thinks that americans are a joke. Thanks to our president no less. We need to rebuild period. See cats will talk shit about the man because they are small minded amd only think that the us is the big picture. Bullshyte! The big picture is global not national and this brother has got it.
I am just blessed to have a black man in the election period. This is history. We knew, (and so did Obama) what he was getting himself into. But to me, that’s what I like about him. He is determined and his ambition is stronger than any media/blog/racist SOB’s opinion.
“there’s no black America, no white America, no Latino America…it is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”
BTW…am I the only one who thinks Barack is an attractive man? with them black ass lips…lol

You stupid! lol He’s attractive EXCEPT for the Black ass lips! (He must’ve hit the blunt pretty hard back in the days!)
Sandra you make me wonder sometimes…Obama is appealing to citizens all over I don’t think that’s a bad thing for our future president
lol @ HunE916
I know, right
I think he’s trying to show Americans that foreign nations would love him to be president. America’s reputation is in tatters internationally. You need all the help you can get.
I can’t help but feeling that Barack Hussein Obama is the Antichrist!
While I love the idea of a Blackman being President of a country that has systematically enslaved African-American people for centuries. He is taking too many risks too soon! The “CHANGE” platform has the potential to change the US positioning in the eyes of the World. We are a World SuperPower more or less based on alot of intimidation, and the European desire to dominate and take over the World. While I’m not saying its a good thing and clearly we need to reform alot of our policies…too much too soon can be dangerous. This country was not built in a year…and Obama is moving too fast for his own good! He needs to watch his ass because now he has the eyes of the world watching him!!!

GIRL BOOOO.
@blkdiamonn – the anti-christ will come from a European nation.
I think what Barack did over in Berlin was actually brillant. He is acting as if he is the president already. I mean really, he is touring germany while John McCain is going grocery shopping.
Obama needs a new slogan “Get off My Nuts Already!” I mean damn he get more attention than Beyonce’!How is Obama moving too fast?Hello, time don’t wait for anyone. That’s what’s wrong with America, too lazy, everything too soon.Like my dad always say “Handle Your Business Ahead of Time.”

Stop smoking that chronic. If not now, then when would be a good time for a black President. If the world thought small like yourself, we would never get anywhere as a people, waiting for the best opportuninty or when society says it’s okay. Life is about taking some risk. There are 3 kinds of people in the world:
1) Those who make things happen
2) Those who watch things happening
3) Those who wonder what just happened
SlimA….I totally agree. There are too many #2’s. Barack is doing his thang. Period.

Where hell this trick come from ooops sorry I let the D-town slip out for a moment
it’s been said enough already; he’s trying to unite countries, or at least introduce himself to them as the next ‘power’ of the U.S. he’s getting buy in from the other countries.
can mccain even fly to the other countries; or will he need a nurse, nanny and oxygen tanks? dude like 93
I’m not sure how versed any of u are in World History, or American History for that matter..but, take some time and research World Civilation and the most revolutionary World leaders..and what happened to them?? Anyone from Cesar to Hitler??
We tend to look at the World from our narrow-minded perspective because we are not educated about what is going on in the World that we live in. Most people have never even voted nor paid any attention to politics!
All I am saying is that Obama is walking into dangerous territory, and is not even the President yet! What happens if McCain wins, and globalization is not part of his agenda as it seems to be Obamas??? Where does that leave us? It seems that at this point in the race, rallying US Nationals around the World is a great idea! But, going to a country such as Germany, and talking about Terrorism when he is in no position to do anything about it, but talk is very premature!!
I do want him in office as he is the best of the 2 candidates but, we know that this country is no longer a democracy even though we vote! GWB didn’t even win the last election based on the popular vote but still became President and has been able to carry out his own personal agenda for 8 years!! We know that systematically we can’t keep doing what we are doing…but, we also change a nation that has been European ran since 1776 overnight, and I am concerned that a Black man coming into office is the one that is rushing to do it overnight! How many of u had even heard of Obama before 2 years ago?? Now we all in his ass just based on his speeches, We don’t really know what he is capable of??? Really??
I prob shouldn’t be on this site having this discussion but, it seems that some of the posters here are responding to my original post based on emotions and opinions!!
LMAO at the McCain ad Sandra…I hear you–freedom of expression–I still don’t like it
@blackdiamonn:
I didn’t know who George Bush was before his daddy got elected. Did GWB rush into office just because I’d never heard of him? Hadn’t heard of Bill Clinton before he began campaigning – he was a good President. I’m sure I wouldn’t have known who RFK was, if his brother wasn’t already President – but plenty of Americans would’ve voted for him, had he lived (before I was old enough for school – let alone old enought to vote – FYI).
Just because some folk never heard of Obama 3 years ago doesn’t mean he won’t make a good president. The ‘Europeans’ *excludes Bill Clinton* haven’t done that great of a job.
Barack is doing what he has to do to take away some of his opponent’s steam. They were constantly dinging him on his lack of experience in foreign affairs among other things. He is visiting with the leaders of other countries so that he can cross that off of his “Job Preparation” checklist.
My problem is I am worried about him over there. I check the news each morning just to confirm nothing has happened to him. I can’t wait until this trip is over.
Acting as if he is already president might play in Europe, but it won’t win him many votes in Ohio. The fact that so many Europeans love Obama is another reason I won’t be voting for him in November. McCain in ’08!

I can’t help but feel you should write your thoughts down first, than read them, and re-read them before sharing it with others…cuz you sound as ignorant as a ….
Be wary of an isolationist president. George Bush, with all his wealth and privileged upbringing, had never traveled outside the U.S. when he became president…and he was ignorantly proud of that fact. Whether we want to believe or not, we live in a global world.
Our next president must demonstrate his ability to presuade the international community to follow our lead. Senator Obama is standing toe-2-toe with world leaders. The same leaders he will have to presuade to support U.S. foreign policy. Foreign policy is half the battle. The other half of the battle is domestic policy. From the looks of this international trip, Senator Obama has one half the battle.
Sandra what are your expectations for the next president? You really need to stop cherry-picking mainstream media, above the fold articles and delve into the facts of what is really going on in this political death match.

-Lol, I was hoping you was being sarcastic because that was an ignorant statement. There are American troops who live in Germany (probably didn’t know that) so it was really that relevant to go over there and introduce himself and be bonded with the allies that we lost.We need our allies. They are just as important like your Q Dawgs (or if you even one) to put it in simpler terms.Or just even in more simpler terms read a book.
lol @ Sharonda (and thank you for breaking it down right)
I’m so tired of people and their ignorant comments, if your are going to leave your opinion, and thats wether you’re supporting President Barack Obama or old dude Mccain at least have it make sense and not sound like you have shot of clorox before you started typing.

I like that I have a choice to vote for whom ever I want. I live in Ohio and our state has unions and farmers and ppl working to earn a honest living. If Barak is visiting Europe so what! You can vote for who you want and what ever cause you chose.

Acting as if he is already president.
I guess you never had to act like you like your job, boss, or situation. He is just being himself and being the man he is. It’s his job/passion. Will he make a great president? We won’t know unless we hire him for the job. He can’t run our Country down any more than it is now. As a black woman I am putting my money where my mouth is. I can’t afford another Rep in The White House. If a Dem voter has less money now than 8 years ago, I say “Go Barack”. Just my 50 cents. I am both black and white and I am tired of old White men being The president and thinking they know what is good for “Our Country”. Your view is your view as mine is. Mccaine for prez is a mistake to me. I am just happy that I can vote for whomever I choose and I am most greatful that I have tolerance in your choice. PAITENCE IS TRULLY A VIRTUE.
If you ladies didn’t like my comments, tough. Yes, Sharonda, I’m very much aware that there are American troops in Germany (my brother happened to have been one of them), but this particular speech was not intended for them. He didn’t deliver this speech at Ramstein, but at the Victory Column in Berlin. And while many think that his appearance in Berlin was “presidential”, many people think that it was just presumptuous, which may turn off many undecided voters. Personally, I thought it was a typical Obama speech-thick in rhetoric but very thin in real substance.
So, Sharonda and milly, your condescending comments will not affect me or my vote. Good night and God bless.
This is funny.
Obama is inexperienced in foreign relations. So he takes a trip to gain some experience and meet the leaders of countries and people have the nerve be mad and why? I’ll tell you.
That (insert racial epithet) thinks he’s the President!!!
Meanwhile, McCain is strolling through the supermarket looking like Grandpa done wandered off from the nursing home.
Look, at this point there is only one choice and its obvious. You better vote for Obama.
If the Republicans steal the election again, we’ll just have to suck it up and keep living our lives as we have this whole time. Park your car, get a roommate, start hustling and make it do what it do. That’s what we do anyway, we adjust.
And didn’t Obama visit soldiers in Afghanistan to begin his trip? The injured soldiers aren’t going anywhere, he could always go back. I don’t think they really cared. Its not like he could heal them.
Although I won’t be voting for McCain…I agree with bigqdawg! Like I said in a prev post…what happens if Obama is not voted as President?? Remember right now the race is still very close, for example her in Michigan Obama has done very little campaigning and based on recent polls McCain has our vote, not to mention according to National polls the margin is very close with Obama being slightly ahead of McCain..some suggests by merely 2 points.
SO with that said…let’s say Obama does not win, and we know that both candidates Foreign Relations policies are drastically different. While Obama wants to go out an cultivate relationships with our enemies and negotiate…McCain wants to keep doing what we been doing and continuing with this Superiority complex that the US has had for the past few centuries.
Obama is too presumptious, and if McCain does win…he will have done more harm than good!! He is speaking about our role against terroism and does not have the capability to do anything about it! He is making false promises and bringing false hope to other nations! We can’t even change the situation in the Country let alone others.
