Former NBA star Matt Barnes and his live-in girlfriend, plus-size model Anansa Sims, welcomed their first child together, a boy named Ashton Joseph Barnes.
Barnes, 38, announced his 3rd son’s birth on Instagram.com on Saturday, Dec. 8.
“Just in time for the Holidays … Ashton Joseph Barnes aka “AJ” 8lbs 13oz 22.5 inches @anansasims #ThreeKings”.
Many of Barnes’s social media followers remarked that little AJ will grow up to be tall like his 6 ft 7 in. father.
Barnes has primary custody of his 10-year-old twin boys Carter and Isiah, whom he refers to individually as “their” to avoid using masculine pronouns “he” or “his” in liberal California.
A judge recently lowered Barnes’s child support to reality star Gloria Govan from $20,000 to $7,500 a month. The judge ruled that Barnes was not required to pay Govan $10,000 per child a month, since he no longer makes a living playing professional basketball.
Sims, 39, is the daughter of former supermodel Beverly Johnson, right, and the late music producer Danny Sims. She will celebrate her 40th birthday on Dec. 27.
Sims has 3 minor children, ages 5 to 7, from her 7 year marriage to David Patterson, which ended in divorce in 2017.
Barnes was drafted in 2002 by the Memphis Grizzlies and traded to the Golden State Warriors in 2006. He returned to the NBA champion Warriors in 2017 to play his final season.
