President Trump

President Donald Trump is determined to win his border wall battle with the Democrats — even if it means depriving government workers of paychecks for months.

During a meeting with Senate Republicans on Friday, President Trump said chances are “very good” for a partial reopening of parts of the government. But he stood firm on his decision that a no vote for border wall funding means the government could remain shutdown for a long time.

“I hope we don’t,” Trump said. “But we are totally prepared for a very long shutdown and this is our only chance that we’ll ever have in our opinion, because of the world and the way it breaks out, to get great border security.”

He added, “One way or the other, we are going to get a wall, get a barrier, we’re going to get anything you want to name it.”

Trump’s resistance so angered new Congresswoman Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) that she told a crowd at a reception on Capitol Hill on Thursday that the House was prepared to impeach Trump.

Tlaib quoted her son telling her, “Mama, look, you won. Bullies don’t win.” She said she responded, “‘Baby, they don’t.’ Because we’re gonna go in there, we’re gonna impeach the motherf–ker.”

Tlaib was sworn in earlier Thursday, according to Mediaite.com.

In an interview with NBC News on Thursday, new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi din’t rule out impeaching the President.

The last President to be impeached while in office was Democrat Bill Clinton in 1988. He was tried by the House on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice related to the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Clinton was eventually acquitted by the Senate and he continued to serve as the 42nd President until Jan. 20, 2001.
