Actor Jon Voight has nothing nice to say about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama. Voight – who is best known as Angelina Jolie’s estranged father – accused Obama of “sowing socialist seeds in young people.”
I had no idea what he meant by that. But rather than dismiss the old geezer, I read on because I figured I might learn something.
In an op-ed piece for the Washington Times, Voight wrote:
Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.
The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
Sounds to me like the Republicans are panicking now that John McCain’s mental condition is public knowledge.
The only other thing I took away from that rambling rhetoric was this: the democratic party is a propaganda machine that’s brainwashing us blacks into worshiping a God-like figure in Obama.
Lol, I’m trying to picture Obama as a God-like figure, but I can’t do it without laughing.
no wonder ange don’t want nuthing to with his azzz…………
well its the ultra conservative washington times, they dont have nothing nice to say about anything.
I really think taht sometimes celebs need tyo just choose silence to avoid sounding/seeming foolish. People are really starting to worry because Barack just might make it inot office …. worst statements will be made. Voight should consider the other candidate’s affiliations as well before going into a rant about nothing.
I also think that their is something unsettling about mr. barack. that’s all i will say.
I think people can say things without sounding foolish, I really do.What they say really doesn’t effect me if that’s what they think.They think Americans are that stupid (and some are).If Beyonce’ can still truck on with the hate, Obama can too.I don’t think Obama claimed himself as perfect or whatever Voight is trying to say.Maybe Voight hasn’t been around to many brothers like Barack and is “shocked” or “offended” that this brother is trying to make a move.I think lots of older people have wisdom, but they they so stubborn (like my grandfather, would pull the Bible out on everything and won’t listen to a word you have to say)and just think they right.Sounds familiar?John McCain is one of those.
my sentiments exactly Starr..he will never grandchildren behind this one..dumbass..geesh
can’t go wrong with the bible.
ANd John Voight is a voice to take seriously ? ?
His Own daughter married a wierdo .. had a vial of billy bob’s blood around her neck .. has 50-lebben tatts .. had an affair with a married man spits out children like chicklets and toungue kissed her own brother on the red carpet … AND to add inslt to injury This shot out chick (his daughter Angie Jolie) won’t have anything to do with John Voight her Daddy … Wonder why ? ?
@ toosexy … what exactly do you mean? I am curious. Is it him as a perosn? what he represents? his policies? Please share.
Well that funny that he didn’t metion anything about the fu**-ups of the Bush administration and this country will be left with a Trillion dollars worth of debt come 2009…What the hell does Rev. Wright or Farrakhan has to do with Obama running this country..And speaking of being affected by our teachers what about the racisit teaching of America’s forefathers who built this country enslaved an entire race, and murdered Indians, but we hold them as heros, build monuments to honor them and put their face on our U.S.Currency..What about the teachings of white suprimacy, inequality, and the unfair treatment of people of color in this country that’s passed down from genteration to generation..And while everyone keeps coming down on Rev. Wright some of what he said in regard to Amerikka is the truth..Mostly white people get offened when people speak the ugly truth about this country because they want to live under the illusion of that God Bless America bull$hyt..They hate to own up to fact that their forefathers are murders, rapist, and theives..I not saying Barack is perfect but he’s a better choice than McCain.
I don’t think I said there’s nothing wrong with the bible I was trying to make a point that the older generation always think they are right because if you sit and try to argue with them they will never listen to ANYONE.Everything they say isn’t always right and this is just the experience I have with my grandfather and working with the elderly.If they want a Triple Whopper they want it, no matter how much you say it’s not healthy (true story).So why would I want McCain in the White House?He isn’t going to listen to a word anybody says anyways and I can see through the bullshit.There isn’t nothing wrong with Barack just because his name isn’t Johnathan or Jimmy he’s has to be not right, fuck out here with that.
Don’t get my words twisted.
I believe senator Obama is a far better choice than McCain. I thought people we intimidated by the thug black man not the intelligent one but I see if a black man can hold his composure and not wear his pants up under his behind he too is a problem. People complain about everything. No wonder this country has so many medications out for stress. Voight needs to take a chill pill and try to get Angelina to let him see his grandchildren
@iyonah
this is just my opinion
I just feel like with the times and everything going on , it just seemed like obama appeared out of nowhere with unprecedented favor. it just bothers me because i am a very spiritual person so i see things diff. , he has little experience and the timing. i don’t know but it’s just one of those feelings. too deep to fully explain it’s all a spiritual feeling. and i always wondered if a man was to come about how could he gain all the honor in a way as discribed , he’s black
First of all, I’m not sure what he meant by God like figure because I know I’m not lookin at Barack or anyone for that matter as a God like figure. Secondly, did he just come out of left field about something he clearly should have kept to himself? Some white people are so threatened by a black man that its not even funny.
No offense but he should stick to the smaller issues in his life, like why his daughter no longer wants to speak to him.
what a crock of crap! NEXT!
I’m so damn offened by people who keep saying that blacks are holding Barack to be some kind of Black God, and we’re soooo naive to believe that putting a black man in office is going to magically fix all of the problems with the black race..I find that very insulting and stereotyping black people as being shallow and can’t think for ourselves, we’re just a bunch of nonthinking idiots voting for a black man not because Barack is clearly a better choice than McCain.
@ toosexy – tahnks for sharing. i was just curious about what you were speaking to. I haven’t folloed Barak’s political career however when faced with the choice, he is the better candidate of the two and that is proven more and more erach day. If he was a different race w/ the same approach my vote would still be for him. McCain seems out of touch with reality and not able to effectively govern the US. On top of that I think that he is sickly and the VP on the ticket wil have a more active role. Our economic sitatuion here isn’t getting better as long as evertything stays the same. McCain is a represenation fo the same policies and administration that have the US in trouble now.
@ stefany … I am not offended but I agree w/ the bulk of what you are saying. I do not think that all Black people raise Barak as a God in there minds. Our people as a whole always want to seek leadership and so on in man and rightfully so in some situations but the presence of faith and spirituality can really make a difference in understanding the society we live in here in the US vs other nations.
@iyonah
no problem i am not to happy about mccain. but i just pray that god leads me to the right decision, and i know what ever decision i make it’s going to be the right thing.

And I am going to leave it at that…cuz, when I saw it on TV, I said the same thing…WTF, “are you still alive”….and considering one of your grandchildren is undeniably black, what is ANGIE going to say now….

“When U shine, all these haters wanna talk down.
I don’t feel a way about what a chicken head say
It’s alright luv, I let a hater hate.”
