Violator Records CEO Chris Lighty believes Barack Obama has more to worry about than what some rapper has to say. In a blog post on Huffingtonpost.com this morning, Lighty suggested that Obama stick to the important issues affecting black and white America, such as lowering the gas prices and ending the war in Iraq.

Lighty urges Obama not to waste his time with rappers who disrespect our women in their lyrics, then yuck it up in the boardrooms with the ones who encourage the misogyny.

Don’t lower yourself to speak to rappers! Just because you are African-American, don’t allow the press to make you step down from the plate of being one of the most powerful men in the world to address a comment from a rapper, no matter how great he or she is. If the Dixie Chicks stand up and attack McCain, the press already knows it’s almost worthless to ask him about it. He wouldn’t have a clue who they are… (Source)

Lighty does have a point there, but he’s wasting his time. Obama is a mere puppet in the hands of the old money in Washington who really control the government. Whether Obama wins or loses in November is entirely up to them.
