The much-hyped Season 4 premiere of ‘The Game’ aired on BET last night (the prior seasons were on CW). Everyone’s talking about the steamy scene between resident Cougar, Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson), and Donte (BET’s 106 & Park host, Terrence J).
Actually, they’re all talking about Terrence J’s exceptional acting skills. He really made me believe he has some prior experience with women.
The sports sitcom centers around a trouble making sports agent, Tasha Mack (Robinson) and her professional football player clients, Derwin (Pooch Hall) and Tasha’s son Malik (Hosea Chanchez) — none of whom can act their way out of paper bags.
Tia Mowry, who announced her pregnancy yesterday, plays Melanie, Derwin’s annoyingly insecure wife. Melanie and Mack don’t believe DJ is really Derwin’s son. So Melanie swabs the cute tyke’s mouth for a DNA test, which turns out to be negative.
Watch Derwin’s reaction below when Melanie tells him that DJ is not his son.
Later on in the show we find out the DNA test result was a mixup, and that DJ is in fact Derwin’s son. The DNA mixup plot was ridiculous and unlikely. But this is TV, so we can’t expect much.
Robinson, Hall and Mowry can’t act their way out of paper bags. Fortunately, Terrence J’s stellar acting skills held my interest long enough to keep me from changing the channel. I did nod off a couple of times though – especially when Robinson, Hall and Mowry were on the screen.
The two battling divorcee’s, Jason and Kelly (Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell), provided some comedy relief from the sheer boredom of watching the rest of the cast struggle through their lines.
The only character that I truly despised was the womanizing Malik (Chanchez). BET managed to fit every black male baller stereotype into Malik’s character. In the opening scenes of the show, Malik is seen banging his team owner’s wife (Meagan Good), whom he later dates openly with no shame because rules don’t apply to him.

I loved the show too! I didn’t care for Malik’s character this time around and Melanie was wrong as hell. I cried when Derwin cried because I can’t imagine how I would of felt… I hope BET keeps up the good episodes.

The show had to catch us up two yrs. It would not have taken Med School two yrs to do a DNA on DJ. For her to go from Med School to Housewife is ridiculous. I wanted Jason and Kelly back together. It wasn’t a bad first episode, I’m use to the underacting. Sandra as far as the DNA going wrong, this is our black Soap Opera, we see it all the time on Daytime Soaps. I so wanted them to go back to where it ended so Tasha could have really explained Kelly knocking her out, why are they making Tasha afraid of Kelly and she is smoking Blacks because???
I wish Melanie would have stayed in Med school though but I assuming that’s typical of basketball/football girlfriends that turn into wives?

I enjoyed it for what it was worth, it was a buffet of sorts. That hour did go by fast.
Mel needs her azz kicked for swabbing that babies mouth. She knew when she said I do that DJ existed. Don’t be mad now because Janae has what you want. Having the nerve to say Janae wants what they have. Janae looked pretty happy when she dropped that baby off with his dad.
Get ya ovulation game up and stop taking your bitterness out on innocent kids. That baby will always be his family no matter what she better hope he doesn’t divorce her bitter ass.
They must’ve consulted with Kim Porter on how to be a bitter b!tch towards your man’s child.
I just wish Meagan Good did not always have to be so…so…well you know! I know sex sells but DAMN! All your characters have sex steam coming off of them…WTH?
Ohhhkay, so I’ve been watching this show since episode numero uno. And I’ve been waiting FOREVER for this premiere like plenty of other folks, but I must say I was somewhat disappointed with the storyline last night.
Malik’s character was disgusting and they made a usually funnaaay-as-all-hell and speak-his-mind Tee Tee into a soft and weak punk. Hated that! Plus, that paternity text mixup was a mess.
All that said, I’m gonna keep watching.
Gotta support my folks. And big ups to Terrence J…he did his thang last night.

Tasha is all mouth, … she acts bad but its a front. Kelly just is at a point she is tired of being pushed around. Tasha ruined her marriage out of spite. And Tasha was right “They really ain’t scared of us no more” lol That had me dying when they was on the phone cutting up.
i loved it. meaghan good is a waste in this show. I love Jason, he’s the funniest. Him and Kelly will be the highlight this season. Wonder how long Melanie is gonna wait to tell her husband she screwed up.

I thought the show could have been better but I liked it overall. Although the acting was quite horrible last night. In fact Sandra I thought Terrence J was the worst actor on the show. I also think they went too far having Tasha smoke a black n mild!
I don’t like Janae at all! She does want what they have. Why would she be so pressed to run and get the same purse you saw your childs step mother with? She was a little extra with that baby too like she was trying to rub it in her face. I just don’t like her!

I knew Terrance J was going to be on the show, but didn’t know he was Tasha’s boy toy. A lot of my friends went to college with Terrance J, so they were happy to see him on the show. All I saw on FB was Aggie Pride!
Kelly going to be broke if she continue to spend spend spend. I know it must be nice to since Jason is so cheap, but she going to be broke like Nicole Murphy allegedly is.
Malik was definitely showing his tail last night.
All in all, I am glued to the show b/c I want to find out how everything is going to go.

Melanie didn’t drop out. She graduated. She just needs to do her residency. She stated that when she was about to give the baby a bath that she was Dr. Davis. And when she ran into Kelly at the hospital she was getting her application for her residency. Once someone has graduated from med school they are considered doctors but must do a residency or a fellowship under an attending doctor. Like on the TV show Scrubs.
WOW, I GUESS IT IS SAFE TO SAY THAT THE SR FAMILY IS 50/50 WHEN IT COMES TO THE GAME. I ENJOYED IT, LIKE I SAID IN THE LAST POST, IT WASN’T WHAT I EXPECTED BUT OVERALL I ENJOYED IT—A TRUE FAN AND I WILL WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN THANKS TO BET

Overall, the show was pretty good. Did not like Kelly’s part at all and hated the new brit brat. After all the drama with Melanie and Derwin, you would think that Melkanie would have done her residency even if she decided to be a house wife. Needless to say, I will still watch faithfully.

I think they were trying to put everything into the first show to see what their lives are like at the present. Question: Is Terrance J’s character a club promoter or something? Or was that his club? I do agree with Sandra that he did quite well. I was impressed. The other ones did their normal over-acting, so that was nothing new. Jason seemed a little dry.
Let’s Stay Together needs to get divorced. Black actors always complain how we never support them, but this is the mess they put out. I am so happy to see they are portraying couples who may argue, are truly happy, but overall this show got a D-.

Although it wasn’t HUGE on laughs, it was enough to keep me coming back to (dare I say it?) BET at LEAST once a week. OK, DVR, but still.

I liked the premiere and the plot twists. I was glad to see my girl Megan Goode getting a role on the show but just wish I was her getting to slobber all over Hosea (he doesn’t seem gay to me why do people think so?). Kelly getting a reality show was funny because they are making fun of “Basketball/Football Wives”. Terrence was looking pretty hot despite him being so thin. It’s going to make me see him in a new light. The only thing that was bad was daughter growing up so fast, she seemed like she was 10 before and now she looked 20. Just because that girl was short doesn’t mean we can’t tell she is an adult. Don’t tell me they are doing some soap opera aging growing stuff.

I’ve been a fan of the show since Day 1, and I am not disappointed in the least. The Game ranks #1 in my book. It was definitely worth the wait.
There are some things I have to get used to like the new Brit Brat. I know two years have passed, but this girl :no:. Bring back the old Brit. I’m SO glad Tee Tee is back, but I miss him as Malik’s assistant. I miss the one-liners – he was hilarious, Malik is such an ASS and was foul for what he did to Tee Tee. Meagan Good – I have to give her some time to set in. I don’t like the new Kelly at all. I LOVE my girl, Tasha Mack (my favorite character beside Derwin and Med School), but seeing her running scared from Kelly wasn’t her. I like Tasha just the way she was. I HATED seeing her with Terrence J. He just didn’t seem the right fit for her at all.
Derwin and Mel – a mess as usual, but I love them!
Other than that, I LOVE this show too death and will continue to watch it for as long as they’ll show it. I think Season 4 might be the best.

I know she graduated but she hasn’t started her residency. She was doing her internship when she met McHottie. She was still in med school then. Doctors do their residencies after graduation.

I know I’m late today y’all but here’s my two cent’s….
On a scale of 1-10 I thought the premier was an 8. In the beginning I was kind of thrown off but I had to keep reminding myself that they’re trying to catch us up to two years later. I think I would have preferred for them to start from where it ended but whatev’s. I don’t write the shyt.
Anyway, I do not appreciate them making Tasha look like a punk azz this go round. Tasha Mack scared of Kelly Pitts?!?!?!? Yeah right! I didn’t appreciate her walking up and down the street smoking that da** Black & Mild either. What was the point in that???
Malik’s whole story was really good. I love Megan Good on the show, love the guy that plays her husband and his character. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when he told Malik’s azz that maybe that spot wasn’t available for Malike to rent it out but that he (the team owner) could most certainly rent it out. I was f’in screaming when he said that.
I’m not feeling the new Kelly so much b/c I liked old Kelly but this was again a point when I had to tell myself that they’re trying to bring us back to speed and fast forward us two years. Kelly is now Shaunie O’Neil and that’s hilarious to me. However, that fast azz new little girl that’s suppose to be Brittney can go! I miss my old, cuper cute Brittney. Even if they were going to make Brittney a little fast azz hot mama they should have done it with the old Brittney.
I don’t think Melanie was wrong for doing the DNA test but was dead da** wrong for not telling Derwin when it came back positive.
Terrence J on the show is cool I guess and I’m so happy they brought my T.T. back. The Game wouldn’t be The Game without T.T.

I loved the Season Premiere!! It was juicy and entertaining…Sandy why do you always have to be so negative!!
The only character I dont like on the show is Kelly…maybe its because they are showing how yt bishes really are when they marry black ballers…its what I thought all alone..they are really only marrying the black penis and the green money…

I don’t have a problem with Kelly. The last episode she attends his court hearing and he in turn walks out with a black female. I know they sped it up two yrs but let Kelly continue to be the scorned ex wife. Jason played her for so long and even in counseling said that he did not love her when they got married. I am looking for a repeat romance more w/them then Mel and Darwin. I agree w/others, get rid of the fast old looking Brit Brat and recast ASAP, if not send her to boarding school.

Overall I give the show an 8! It was only the first episode. I look forward to seeing more. I liked Melanie & Derwin, but she has to get over being insecure; that’s not a good look. Tasha told her to drop it and she should have. Melanie married Derwin in spite of the situation, so she needs to deal with it. Malik is something else. I believe TT is going to rat him out. Jason is my boy and he is going to have the last laugh with Kelly (whom I don’t like by the way). I wish Tasha Mack would have grown some. After loosing Rick Fox & Coach T, I thought she would have done some soul searching. She lost both men due to her being able to trust and being insecure.

Did anyone else notice that Brittany’s age has drastically increased since last season?? She had to have been like 11 last season and now this season she looks like she’s 17!
They need to ease up on all the drama. This show use to be so funny. The main thing I love about this show was the realism—but, that is all gone. Say what you want, the CW had better writers. The actors can only work with what they are given. The whole thing about the DNA test got a massive eye roll from me. Like, wtf?

Med School, on the other hand, was driven, had goals and wanted more out of life than being some baller arm candy. I wanted them to develop that Mel a little more. But, I don’t think they will separate the characters. If she stayed through all the BS Derwin put her through, there is no way they are getting a divorce. #1 reason why I will NEVER date a baby daddy. No ma’am. Not trying to get into some already made family. I am not liking Mels character at all right now but it is just the first episode. IMO, they did too much too fast. They shouldn’t have let two years pass by. After while they won’t have anywhere else to go.

Now for The Game. I am disappointed in the way they took the storyline. HATED how they changed it up, there was to much break in what we saw last and now.

Brit Brat – literally changed and NOT for the better
Tasha being scared of Kelly…GTFOOH. A sucker punch doesn’t equate to she can whoop my ass and the B&M was SO random. What happened to Rick? Tasha and Terrance were cringe worthy at best.
I hate the BM storyline and that Mel will keep this fom him. I hate that Mel gave up her life to be a housewife.

I have to admit that Mel & Derwin are not my Luke & Laura, I liked Tasha & Rick Fox. I loved the episode with Penny Marshal as his mother. I liked Jason with Kelly. I totally agree that Mel is a dif woman when she is w/Derwin. What woman is going to delay her career for her husband and they don’t have kids? I also am one that won’t date/marry a man w/kids, and now and days a man with more than one child has more than one baby mama, not my cup of tea.
Well I loved the show and some of ya’ll must of forgot it has been 2 years from the last show and there is a gap that they will either do flashbacks like “Lost” or tell us some background on what happen with in the last 2 years. Anyway, the show is on a new network and the charactors can’t be the same forever. Everyone has to grow! Here’s my thoughts, **Mel is like any other Wifey that man got a baby outside of their relationship. Yea the baby is innocent but everytime she looks at him, its a reminder that her man loved another women besides her. Its not like he had the baby before they met and she had to deal with the child and the relationship at the same time. **Derwin being hurt by Mel shenanigans was just sad and heartbroken. My mother was like why he crying? I was like for men that actually love their kids with all their and then to find out that that child is not his is just hurtful. Only deadbeats don’t care about their kids either way. But Mel is wrong and deserved a kelly punch to the face! lol. **Tasha is still Tasha and heck did you see kelly’s legs? She be in the gym working on her fitness! tasha is a hood chick with all talk and no bite. They try to talk you out of a fight with they loud mouths but can’t hit worth nothing. **Malik is just smelling his on $hit! and from what i hear, he will be going down in a bad way. **Jason is being single and apparently just dating and complaining about his worth like our very T.O. lol. **Kelly well she was a coupon clipper while she was with Jason and now she can put in ALL in a bag and don’t have to worry about. Only thing I think should of been the same was Brittney. They did age her a bit but if she is only 13 then she might be asking for attention. teen peer preesure esp is sure to come. lol Well that is my take on things if you care to read it all. I have been watching the show since Mel appeared on Girlfriends as Joan’s Cousin. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
I was so excited about The Game but it was not what I though it would be. Mel came back annoying and Malik was a cocky mess! The only parts I truely enjoyed was the scenes with Tasha and Terrance (can’t remember his screen name). Jason and Kelly was just too boring! Hopefully BET will bring it in the second episode.

@issa Derwin helped make Mel insecure IMO I love the chemistry they have and I do want her to mature. The show pretty much has the same writers they did lose a few though.
