The police in Rosedale, MD have released the mugshot of the oldest of two black teens charged with assaulting a white female transgendered person for using the women’s restroom at a Baltimore area McDonald’s.
Teonna Monae Brown, 18, was arrested for the assault on Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, along with an unidentified 14-year-old girl who will be charged as a juvenile.
The assault was captured on cell phone video by a McDonald’s employee who uploaded the video to YouTube. The video was taken down by YouTube administrators, but not before it went viral on Worldstarhiphop.com and Drudgereport.com.
The McDonald’s employee who filmed the assault, Vernon Hackett, 18, was fired by the franchise owner, Mitchell McPherson on Friday. McPherson said he is considering taking action against other employees who stood around laughing and did nothing to help the customer.
Meanwhile, advocates for transgender rights are planning to rally outside the restaurant at 6315 Kenwood Avenue, where the attack occurred. The rally is set for 7 pm tonight.
Brown is no stranger to the McDonald’s on Kenwood Ave. She was arrested last year for picking a fight with a woman and her two daughters there.
Danielle K. Dower, 38, told police that on July 27, 2010, she was at the Kenwood Avenue McDonald’s with her two daughters when Brown and her friends began badgering them.
Dower said she left the restaurant but Brown and 2 of her friends pursued them outside.
Dower said Brown followed her and her daughters to another store where punches were thrown again and her wig was snatched off her head. Brown, who is 5′-5″ and 170 lbs, then hit Dower with an umbrella and dragged her oldest daughter across the floor by her hair.
In a handwritten statement, Dower wrote that she sustained “a few cuts to my face” and “my head was hurt from the hair pulling.”
A judge later dropped the two misdemeanor assault charges against Brown for unspecified reasons.
UPDATE: According to WBAL, bail was denied for Teonna Monae Brown today. That’s good! She’s obviously a menace to society and she needs to stay right where she is.

Ive pissed in the men’s restroom before at clubs…..when I really, really have to pee and the woman’s restroom line is too long…. so I guess its ok for the men to jump me cause I was using their restroom…

Good question @ Awesome but if you look @ the reported details of the case, Chrissy Lee was attacked because she was a transgender female in the women’s bathroom and the chics didnt agree with it. If we don’t get into specifics i.e.: her getting smart and the 2 chics telling her to get out of the bathroom, it looks like a hate crime to me. I’ve never studied law but when you factor in the basics of this case, that would be the conclusion I came to. Then again I am admittedly bias because I’m SO sick and tired of discrimination. Not just in the LGBT community; but overall. I think we, as HUMANS, need to do better. It’s that simple…
@Candi – Yes, I’m assuming that was one of the reason so I guess it’s not “regardless”. In another post someone mentioned how a defense lawyer could spin this case in favor of the attackers by giving all different types of reasons but when I look at the basics of this case: she was attacked for being transgender and not being in the bathroom THEY felt she belonged.

They interviewed the he/she, it was not about the restroom. He said it was over a boy. Apparently the girl’s boyfriend said something to the he/she and when she came out of the restroom the girl said are you trying to talk to my man and spit in he/she face. I saw it on another site.

I dont know about this one. The transgendered person is RECOGNIZED as a male, but his decision to live as a woman is RESPECTED. the reality is that no one really knew how to handle the situation. why didnt s/he just wait until the coast was clear and then go into the rest room? so many questions, and who’s to say that’s not what s/he did.
I’m sure the employee was fired for distributing the video and bringing flack to the mcdonalds brand (though a franchise). This entire story is crazy. And it is Baltimore. Haven’t yall seen the wire? hahaha I’m joking.
