Your tax dollars are safe from the clutches of the greedy automakers who flew to Washington in private jets costing $20,000 per flight just in jet fuel alone.
The $15 billion bailout bill passed easily in the house, but was defeated 52-35 in the Senate tonight. They needed 60 votes to break a filibuster. Thank God for the Republicans!
If the big 3 CEOs need a bailout maybe they should consider donating their multimillion dollar salaries and bonuses. The only true victims here are the auto workers. But they would have gotten the shaft anyway even if the bailout bill passed.
Actually, the bailout failed in the Senate because the UAW refused to accept pay cuts that would bring their pay more in line with Japanese carmakers. It’s hard to feel sorry for them if they won’t accept a concession that could ultimately save many of their jobs.
Since the bailout didn’t work, the Big Three (especially GM) need to file for Chapter 11. That way, they can rework their contracts with the UAW, and do what’s necessary to save the industry.
^^^^^cosign what BigDawg said^^^^^
This affects more than just the Big 3 .. it affects ALL the Minority owned car delaerships .. the tire companies that employ THOUSANDS .. the car parts industries .. the advertising industries .. It’s NOT just Detroit that will be affected .. there have been plant closing all across the country … MANY .. MANY MANY people have lost there jobs ..
The Bail-out should have passed with TOUGH restrictions that mirrored bankruptcy language ….
Yes I agree all parties involved should have put asdide personal gain and intrests to help the greater good.
AND PHUCK THE REPUBLICANS !!
Oh Yeah .. Good Morning !
lol @ kym! good morning…
i have a friend that works at an auto dealership and his company is struggling right now. he’s in the process of trying to find another job because they aren’t selling cars and he’s not making any money.
cosign with all. and the ceo of ford has agreed to work for a buck. so he has donated his salary.
good morning fam. tgif.
a co worker just told me the ceo’s of the others have also agreed to work for a buck too. didn’t know that. only knew of the ford ceo. and she also sent me this blurb…nothing about a jet.
Ford CEO Alan Mulally, GM CEO Rick Wagoner and Chrysler chief Bob Nardelli all planned to road-trip to Washington in fuel-efficient hybrid cars for hearings on Thursday and Friday.
so there sandra. what else do you want?
Good Morning!…I have mixed feelings about the bail out, but I do feel sad that it’s the people at the bottom who suffer.
Kwall says:
Ford CEO Alan Mulally, GM CEO Rick Wagoner and Chrysler chief Bob Nardelli all planned to road-trip to Washington in fuel-efficient hybrid cars for hearings on Thursday and Friday.
————————
I think they only did that to look good for the Bailout committee..
ckarin i think you are right about the hybrid’s….. but it totally and completely contradicts what sandra said…..”Your tax dollars are safe from the clutches of the greedy automakers who flew to Washington in private jets costing $20,000 per flight just in jet fuel alone.”
@ KWeezy .. the FIRST Trip to capitol hill .. they EACH flew up on personal jets … Congress got in they AZZEZ . saying .. u coming here askin for money .. couldn’t you have at LEASR JET POOLED … lol so the SECOND time they car pooled in a hybrid…
and since we are talking bailout here…who up here REALLY think these autoworkers make $73 a dagum hour? which equates to about $150,000 per year (give or take a thousand…)??? who believes that?
if i did i am in the wrong field and so are most of the srose fam. we ALL need to be relocating to detroit tout de suite after all of this pans out…$73 an hour? even with benefits tossed in i am doubting that figure….
Hello All! Truth be told, 99% of the Senators who serve this country are millionaires so most, nor their families, do not drive Fords or Chryslers. Now if it were Mercedes or Lexus that was going belly up, childddddddddd, it would be another story. I hate to see so many hard-working, middle class Americans suffer because of greed, pure and simple. So many jobs will be lost if our Congress doesn’t deliver. Hell, I’d be willing to pay a few more tax dollars to help my fellow Americans out. I’m just saying….for what it’s worth. After all, I am my brother’s keeper. Peace.
i knew that kym. but sandra made it sound like they keep doing it after they were severely reprimanded a few weeks back for doing so. she did not even mention they had changed their habits and got up on those hybrids. if someone was reading this and did not know the backstory as usual they woulda got half a story.
she wants to high five repubs. i never saw a story up here talking about laura bush and her g20 dinner party featuring $500-600 wine. where was that story??
Ford and Chrysler make crappy cars!!!…Their cars do not have the dependability and longevity(sp) of a Toyota or Honda…
ORRRR .. The fact that Laura Bush .. KILLED A MAN ..
Laura Bush, ran a stop sign in the Texas crash that killed a friend in another car. The report, adding information to previous reports of the crash, was released to The Associated Press on Wednesday.
she was a young teenager .. but it’s still sensational .. if it were Michelle Obama .. Lord Jesus .. they would have tried to resurrect the corpse
f.o.r.d.
fix or repair daily.
i used to have a mustang. that car was a piece of shyt. and that is being nice… considering i drove it off the lot with only 50,000 miles. drove it right back to the same lot after 2 years and traded it IN.
still i feel for the workers. with families. this is one of america’s worst nightmares
OR .. F.O.R.D … Found On Road DEAD … lol
Good morning, fam!
I’m not ready to talk about money this morning!
i know that’s right divine. sandra got me fired up. early. on a friday. on a payday.
i oughta be ashamed for falling into the trap!!
Good Morning All!
DB, nice pic! See you have your Gravatar working properly!
K-dub, theonly reason that the CEOs agree to get paid only a dollar is because they have ways to get that money on the back end in investments and in their retirement plans, which allows the money to increase. So they end up getting the money in the end.
yes you are right diva. they still get paid in the end. i feel bad for them a teeny bit b/c i think they have tried everything to prevent this…it is not totally their fault. and i applaud some of their efforts at trying to find a fix. at least they did not gamble away folks retirement plans like sam zell the chairman of tribune company. and at least they are not like those greedy bank execs who are STILL trying to get their bonuses in times like these. how you gonna ask for a bonus of millions of $’s and the usa is in dire financial straits?
but yeah none of the above are gonna suffer like some poor factory worker. none of them.
yes…DM! Auntie hooked me up yessaday!
*she was super DUPER NICE and sweet, making me wanna give her hugs* I do not recognize the person that hates Bey. I do not know who that is.
I wish somebody would slide auntie some super scandalous juicy gossip.
Like 50 had been hookin’ up with Ciara’s ex-manager (with bukkid neekit pics as proof) and that’s the real reason why she clipped her and kicked her off the team.
i can’t get my gravatar to work .. EVA … sigh … so i (in KWeezy words) PURE gave up … !!

Why is that the banker did not have to jump thru the same hoops?????
Has anyone actually thought about the domino effect this will have on the economy?
If you look back at history the stand that the republicans are taking are the same stance they took that lead to the Great Depression.
@dbrown i’m still waiting on a post on ursh and his wife who has birthed 5 sons.
Next time, they’ll make quality cars because I’m not wasting my money on that garbage.I feel bad for the workers though, but the CEOs, not so much.
Weeze…did you see what they named that lil baby?
UUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHH, people get money and just fall off, man!
Good Morning Everybody………
DB, I didn’t see the new baby’s name? What it it??
Morn goat … ATPE
Naviyd Ely Raymond…
I would like to know the origin of this name…and what drugs she was on. I will drive long distances to feel that good.
Morning all! I wonder if the banks who got bailed out had such a hard time getting money. did they have to agree to a $1 salary? I hope they get some help so jobs won’t be lost, but the UAW needs to sit their collective arses down!
But seriously, the US auto industry is SO fukked up right now it’s almost as bad as the housing industry. A MAJOR restructuring of the bussiness itself is needed. From the manufactors, oil companies, parts suppliers, to the dealerships. (too many entities concerned with profit rather than quality and longevity)
What up Kymy………Yes, ATPE at your service……
@DivaMama
I have no problem with that if company does well, give them money on the back end. On the other hand if the company does poorly they get nothing.
I don’t thikn the auto workers make $73 per hour literally. The $73 pr hr number is when you factor in benefits and other bonuses (if there are any). I don’t know how I feel about the loan to the auto makers.. I would hate to see America reduced to a country that has no industry of its own.. It just seems like we are moving backwards.
If we can give AIG money for nothing, they make absolutely nothing, then why can’t we loan the auto makers money. At east we can see what they manufacture. Their assets are tangible.. And they weren’t asking for a bail out.. they were asking for a loan.. Doesn’t make any sense. None of it makes sense..
I feel for Obama. He has a serious mess on his hands.
@kalvonel
What even worse is the banks were suppose to start lending when they got their money but instead they went out and bought other banks. look at Citibank they tried to buy Wachovia and then Citibank asked for more tax payer money.
I was kinda mixed on the bailout.
1.) I wanted the bailout so that the workers can keep they’re jobs so they could only try to keep the economy going. Cuz the consumer at the end stimulates the economy. If they they scared and think they might have to spend less, the business will suffer and people might lose jobs.
2.)On the other hand, if the companies don’t restructure, even if there was a bailout, the job losses would be inevitable.
Therefore, I would only agree wit hthe bailout if the companies planned to restructure.
