I’m an avid reader and I know you are a fan of natural beauty and I feel that we feel the same way on how the media portray us “black” women when it comes to our hair and brown skin (like we aren’t good enough). This was a very huge deal for me because I grew up with bald edges and very nappy hair and felt that “long straight” hair was the only way for any brown skinned girl to make it. I’m working on a blogging site (BoldisBeauty) where I want all girls of all races to come share their insecurities and more…and come OUT to face their fears of the world. When I finally came out I felt like a million bucks and I want to share that feeling with millions of other women/girls who are prisoners of their own bodies.

I totally agree. I believe that if you can rock a short hair do and you still pretty, then YOU are pretty!!! A lot of females HIDE behind their long hair and/or weave…..

I agree! When I wore my hair long and natural, I hated it! Insecure, weave wearing bishes would come up to me and run their hands over the back of my head, feeling for tracks. To this day industry people still remind me about my long hair, because, apparently it was a thing of amazement to them. Now I LOVE my short hair. I’m so proud of my freeze curls!
Beutiful?? Are u kidding me?? She needs hair extensions so she can walk around “pattin her weave” all day. And she needs to add about 25lbs on that butt so she can have a fat giggly lumpy azz falling out of her shorts.

Here i go being a hypocrite but to you who do have long hair. Get a “quick weave” for that freeze curl look that way you could go back to naturally long the following week. I believe woman with long natural hair should only wear quick weaves for the short look every once in a while. Then again i haven’t seen quick weaves in a minute lol. @Aunt Sandy you prolly cut all your hair off wait not all but most because you were tired of fooling with it every morning. I say keep it and just put it in a doobie with the pins when you can’t be bothered lol. I love LONG hair! Lord knows i do! But ill be MAD AZ HELL when someone chops off their long locks. :sighs:

The only reason I wore my hair long when I was younger was because it grew too fast and I couldn’t afford a partial relaxer every 2 weeks to keep my beady beads under control. So I hid my beady beads under my long hair. I would wait the required 6 weeks to get a touch up, but then my stylist would fuss at me for waiting 6 weeks because my beady beads was so long they caused my relaxed hair to break. I tell you I suffered with long hair all my life. Now I feel FREE and HAPPY with my short hair!

I’m a wanna-be jigga boo. I cut off my natural long hair 3 years ago because I was talked into a texturizer that was too straight. I wear a shoulder length golden blond curly afro- I’m relaxer free but gots to have me some color!! I had many “good hair” moments because men want to run their fingers through my hair and I have to tell them I have the type of hair you grab a handful of- if you want silky smooth you got the wrong chic.

OAN (kinda not really) most women who are pro long hair are women who’ve never really had long hair of their own. JMO but I’ve noticed the women in my family who have always had hair will cut, shave, dye their hair whenever the mood strikes without giving a damn and look great while doing it while friends/acquaintances will sit back griping and complaining about how a woman should never cut her hair, why do it, you don’t know what you’re doing and mess like that. It takes a truly confident and secure woman to make decisions on her hair (be it long, short, red, purple or gray) based on what they want vs what other people will think

you post this because I really need for my sistahs and other races of women to see that no matter how you look, no matter how light or dark you are, it’s what you think of yourself that makes you beautiful and if you know who you are then all others then can see the true beauty of you. I don’t know why we glorify the light skin chicks, the fake hair, make-up, and fake titts and butt. But this chick here is Michael Jackson BAD, she got the natural look down pack and it looks really good
Regarding weaves…there was a story out a few months ago about how weaves are destroying the scalps of black women and causing baldness. I’m sure the situation has been made worse by these sistas getting weaves in their cousin’s kitchen who “taught” herself how to do them.
