I BOUGHT 10 ALBUMS OF DAMITO JO, AND 20 OF 2O.Y.O…..and now she tells me she knew they sucked?
– Random poster on Janet Jackson Forum
Janet Jackson has incurred the wrath of her hard core fans by admitting she knew her last two albums flopped because the song selection was lacking.
While the revelation is not something her fans wanted to hear, this may actually signal a new change of attitude for Miss Jackson. Maybe it means Janet has taken control of her career and selected better producers for her new album Discipline which drops February 26.
Or maybe some wise person at her new label sat her down and told her something she hasn’t heard in over a decade: the truth.
maybe that fan should have listened to the cd’s then decide whether or not they should purchase another 28!!!
She’s telling the truth and I agree. I know she said on this new album she chose tracks that sounded like classic Janet with an updated kind of vibe. That’s what she should have been doing the whole time but atleast she figured it out. For the idiot that bought 30 of her albums, you got what you paid for.
I actually like the new stuff I have heard from her so far and although I have never bought a Janet album, I might cop this one. Mainly because nothing else is coming out right now and I need some new music.
Honesty is refreshing…but who buys 20 copies of an album???
By the way I’m excited about “Discipline”
Only an idiot would buy that many copies of the same album.
Shouldn’t the fan be listening to the “music” NOT the artist!!
what a** would buy 20 copies of the same d*mn album! it sounds to me his d*mb a** is obsessed with janet.
When you buy 10 copies of an album and then 20 copies of an album there’s something to be said FOR YOU and it ain’t good.
what was this ‘random poster’ trying to do? Boost record sales? If so, I’m sure it helped somewhere…but sheesh, why buy 20 copies of the same damn thing?
Idiot, indeed.
Are you guys sure that random poster wasn’t trying to be funny by being sarcastic?
Wow…just, wow.
Didn’t Jermaine produce a lot of her last two CDs?
Hmmm, methinks there will be or has been some arguing going on under the J&J roof.
As I said on another blog, I liked her last album. She had some unreleased bangers on there that I have in my iPod right now. She made that statement in response to the interviewer asking her if she thinks her wardrobe malfunction is what hurt record sales and apparently she doesn’t want to admit it has. MTV has shunned her which means she is not reaching a large segment of fans. I wonder why she won’t admit that.
This nothing new. Most Janet fans should know that for the last couple of albums she had at virgin they wren’t letting her pick the songs she wanted to pick to put on the album. During a pre- release interview for 20 y.o she was raving about how good some of these songs were and some of the ones she mentioned never made it to the disc.
Let’s hope the blogger was just trying to be funny..however Janet does have some diehard fans out there so it honestly could be true(lawd help him)I miss the old Janet, hopefully Discipline shuts these little wannabee’s down
This year I have only bought 3 CDs; I have to really be feeling the music to buy it. Therefore, I can’t fathom buying more than 1 copy unless the original was lost or damaged.
Damita Jo material was clearly underacheiving The lyrics on some of the songs sounded like she didn’t even try.
Janet’s music has been suffering for a while, the last song she had out that i liked was that I get so lonely. She needs to stop trying to be nice to that midget and stop letting him produce her music
He’s the fool, he could have bought 1 and burned it 100 times and only be out $17.
no need to lie, they sucked. jimmy and terry cant produce hits every time, they have had their run, now its time to find other producers. nothing wrong with that. i like 20 yr old that was the best cd she has put out in yrs.
i am a huge janet fan ( and mariah) , but i have never and i mean never bought 30 of the same albums for either of them . janet’s last two albums weren’t the best , but i did like some of the tracks on them . i am glad that she can at least admit that those albums didn’t live up to past albums .i wish her success and i am excited about the new album.
Sometimes it’s not what the artist wants so much as it is what the record label wants. I would think Janet Jackson would be beyond that as long as she has been in the business – but I guess not.
Anyone with a critical ear for music would know that Janet has been putting out “Britney Spears” pop music. Its wack. Only young kids like that mess. Anyone who listened and liked old Janet would know that what she was putting out was substandard “bite a style” garbage.
Janet used to set the standard, and clearly Virgin decided to just grind her through their pop machine. I’m glad she’s figuring out something to save her drowing career.
Hopefully Disciplin isn’t some “new sound” pimp strategy to get us to buy another wack album.
