Janet Jackson graces two covers of Vibe magazine this month – just in time for the February 26 release date of her CD Discipline. No disrespect to Vibe‘s art department, but these covers are horrible. Janet looks great on both covers though. I’m not feeling the ‘Off the Wall’ cover at all.
Both are nice, but I like the first one better.

She’s not too old to perform. What is wrong with age appropriate beauty. 30-40 can be just as sexy and appealing if you make it. The reality is she is not 21, that age group won’t buy her cd, so what is the purpose of that type of marketing? Her image has changed and she actually did quite well with the music she was making and her image wasn’t trashy.
I like the first one too… Janet is showin these young girls how sexiness should be done tastefully. Now only if she can sell a damn record, she would be alright.

I’m not crazy about either of the covers, but I’m hoping it’s because the pics we are seeing are poor quality. Maybe the actual cover looks better. The wig she is wearing in the tank photo makes me think of Trina and that is not a good thing. I’m not sure why anyone thinks she is not age appropriate in either of these pics. Dressing age appropriate is a very subjective idea. Don’t let the media fool you into thinking there is a certain standard for how to dress at certain age. You do what makes you feel good and what looks good on you and that’s all you can do. When we get caught up in tieing an age to how people “think” you should be dressing, then we loose site on the important thing and that’s to be comfortable with who we are and happy in expressing that in the way we see fit.
If a 49 year old man wants to wear FUBU then let the man wear FUBU. I’m sure there are bigger issues in life to worry about than what someone wants to wear. Be happy he’s around, hopefully healthy and full of life. If Pops wants to wear FUBU then buy him a FUBU shirt…lol. He aint hurtin nobody.

I am talking about the overall image being presented to us. It’s like getting older makes you loose your sex appeal or something according to society. That’s teh reason why some of our fav celebrities are carving themselves up. You can age and be sexy. What’s really funny to me is the fact that some of the people trying to make it okay for Janet’s PR people to try and rewind time are the same one telling Mariah to cover and act her age.

Janet has worn some things that I consider classy, but those outfits are far and few in between. I don’t think we have issues with what she’s wearing here, it’s the other things I mentioned.

That’s why Janet needs to leave the Hooker Barbie clothes alone. She can, and has been, sexy without showing off the twin cantaloupe mounds on her chest.
There isn’t an outfit handed out to 40-year olds…but by 40, there should be some earned common sense:
1- Glittery silver and gold boots/shoes and clothes are NOT your friend. Stop wearing them, reminiscing about yesteryear.
2- When over 85% of your body is exposed, go back and put on something that covers a little more. Even stippers cover up SOMETIME.
3- Spandex should be worn in moderation, We can’t take an entire outfit from those trying to recapture or hold on to their youth. Heaven forbid they add the silver shoes with it.
4- If after getting undressed, 60% of your “best features” get put back into drawer, container or a wigbox, it’s time to reasses some things. (THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO AGE).
Not everyone here is:
a. Fat (I could actually stand to gain a few pounds, but what I have, I work without looking sleazy). Those here who you made fun of for being thick, are probably no bigger than Janet was before her marathon lipo session.
b. Hating on Janet (I think she’s cute and like some of her music, I can’t stand her played-out sex-vixen schtick).
c. Going to post things that everyone else likes; attacking posters here because you don’t agree with what’s said is about as silly as some of Janet’s outfits.
