Police have a man in custody in connection with the July 25th shooting death of former champion boxer Vernon Forrest. 20-year-old Damario Ware turned himself in to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday. Ware is charged with murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery. He is being held at the Fulton County jail without bond.
Ware is not the gunman in the case, but police are expected to make more arrests by week’s end. Ware is the man seen on an apartment surveillance video that was released by police last week. Police said Ware approached Forrest, 38, from behind after he stopped at a Chevron gas station on Whitehall Street to put air into the tires of his Jaguar.
Ware demanded Forrest’s boxing championship ring, wallet and a Rolex watch. Forrest complied with the robber’s request, then reached under his driver’s seat for his handgun before giving chase on foot.
Police said Forrest lost sight of Ware as he turned the corner at McDaniel and Fulton Streets. But Forrest encountered Ware’s accomplice in the street. The two exchanged words before the gunman shot Forrest 8 times in the back.
Police received a break in the high profile case when tips poured in after Forrest’s murder aired on America’s Most Wanted on Saturday. Ware was previously out on bond for an arrest in March in which he was charged with obstructing a police officer, criminal trespassing and auto break-in. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
america’s most wanted is one of my favorite shows! im glad he did the right thing and turned himself in.

Ware is not going to get too much of a break for turning himself in and telling who else was involved. His rap sheet speaks of his character.
@Anna I need to order a copy of happily ever after I want to support them!

To support them is our way of saying thanks. They do a great job.
what gets me upset is how young these men are and just willing to throw their life away for material items.

That crossed my mind also. Is anybody raising their kids anymore? I wouldn’t be surprised if his mom is mid 30’s and he lived with grandma. He had sense enough to turn himself in but I guess I would have too. Mr. Forrest was well known and Ware knew is pic was on tv, I would turn myself in for fear of my safety.
that is so sad….
on a happy note: HAPPY B_DAY TO DAISY!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Daisy!!!
I’m NOT blaming Vernon (Just pointing out some facts)
You don’t take your high-end luxury car WITH NO BACK-UP to a Chevron gas station for ANYTHING !!!
You DON’T pull out a gun UNLESS you’re going to USE IT
You don’t give chase UNLESS you know exactly WHO you’re going after… The guy that shot him IN THE BACK was the very guy that Vernon couldn’t recognize 100% from the initial incident
Personally I HOPE none of the FOOLS ever see a trial or significant court-date because what THEY DESERVE doesn’t involve the U.S. Judicial System (Real Talk)
