A Baltimore man is being held without bond on charges of beating his 5-year-old daughter to death with his bare hands.
Matthew Carr, 22, did not have custody of his daughter, Mya, but she was alone with him at his home when she died of multiple internal injuries on Monday. Police say Carr called 911 to report he found his daughter unresponsive in the bathtub.
Paramedics arrived to find Mya lying on a bathroom floor in Carr’s home. Her body was covered with bruises and multiple fractures to her face, ribs, arms and legs.
Police found evidence of a clean up attempt in the bathroom. There was a strong odor of bleach present in the air, and children’s clothing had been recently washed in the sink. Mya was taken to Sinai hospital, where doctors documented her horrific injuries. Doctors also noted blood near the little girl’s vagina.
“They found bruising. They found broken ribs. They found fractures to the face,” said Donny Moses of Baltimore police.
“Some of her injuries would indicate that she had been abused in the past,” Moses told CBS Baltimore.
During a police interview, Carr admitted that he punched Mya multiple times all over her body with a closed fist for wetting herself.
Carr is being held without bail because he is considered a flight risk.

People should not make babies they do not know how to nor wish to care for. Kids are a gift, to create life is a gift not to be taken selfishly. The people who want kids to love and adore cannot have them but those who do not need them pop them out over and over. People make big fusses over abortions, birth control but if taking a life saves a life…people should make the best decision. I would rather give people alternate resources than to keep having kids who our only job is to breathe good things into be killed after they are here and just learning about the world.

people making babies with anybody and everybody and leaving their babies with anybody and everybody. i’m starting to feel like BOTH parents should be charged. americans need to get waaayyyy tougher on child abuse and homicide. we’ve just heard that there have been like 30 something deaths in the new year alone in metro atlanta and people want to blame DFACS instead of the MFs that killed the babies. in most cases, these folks have files a mile long but they keep putting the kids back and the parents keep abusing them or allowing the abuse to happen. BOTH the MFs need to go to jail.

Wow…just wow! This boy had no coping skills, no parenting skills, and no decision-making skills. It is sad that people, especially Black people, still do not see how horrific physical assaults are to children (yes, it is physical assault and not physical discipline). Physically assaulting children can easily lead to murder. There was no reason to brutalize and assault this defenseless child for soiling herself. She may have had bladder issues, she may have been sexually abused (which leads to most victims soiling themselves…and blood was found near her vaginal area), the physical abuse may have taken its toll on the young girl resulting in her responding by soiling herself when the perpertrator is around, etc. The horror she faced is not hard to fathom because Black parents refuse to use healthy means of discipline and to understand that rearing children under the master-slave mentality does not result in socially and mentally healthy adults.

Mom was at work working hard for the money no doubt when she got a call from 17 year old DeAndre Anthony Jones of Pasada on May 13 2003 telling her 3 year old Jaysia Lana Lavre had fallen in the bathtub and was sick. Her mom couldn’t leave work and told him to call 911. When medics arrived her condition was so serious that she was flown to John Hopkins Hospital admitted with hemorrhaging and swelling in her brain and eyes. She died three days later and DeAndre was arrested charged as an adult with her murder after cops searched the apartment and found three dents in a wall – one that had strands of her hair in it. He eventually told them he wanted to play video games and Jaysia was disturbing him, causing him to go off. He got a 20 year prison sentence.
DAVID ARTHUR MALLOY
Eighteen month old Sara Ann Concannon’s mom had put her live in boyfriend out of her house just one week before he came back to do some babysitting for her while she went to work. 20 year old David Arthur Malloy from Pasadena was babysitting the toddler on February 18 2002 when her mom got a call from him at work telling her Sara was hurt from a fall. Unable to leave work, she told him that Sara’s father was due to pick her up for a visit and since she couldn’t leave her job, her father would handle it. When her father showed up to get his daughter and saw her sprawled out on the couch fighting for her life with her eyes rolling in the back of her head, he immediately called 911. Sara was rushed to John Hopkins Hospital where doctors found injuries to her chest and at least two skull fractures. They determined her injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. The child was shaken so violently that her skull was broken, sending blood in her spinal cord. Investigators discovered that David made 8 calls in 9 minutes but not one of them was to 911 looking for help for Sara. When arrested, he gave several different stories of what happened before finally confessing to beating and shaking the child because she had taken bread from a drawer in the kitchen and made a mess with it. Convicted of child abuse resulting in death he got a 20 year prison sentence.

My heart and prayers to Mya and her family
When I had my daughter at 15, I was so protective of her I didn’t want to leave her with anybody! It took me a long while before I would leave her with her dad or his family alone. Many years later there have been no incidents, nothing but love, and I’m thankful for sticking to my guns. I can’t imagine what this mother and her family is going through.
