Labrador retrievers are not known for this type of violence. But police say a family’s “gentle” lab tore the legs off of a 2-month-old infant as his father slept soundly in the next room.

A supposedly “gentle” pooch named Lucky is suspected of killing a 2-month-old baby and tearing the child’s body apart in South Carolina.
Aiden McGrew, who was born on Valentine’s Day and was the youngest of three children, was found dead in his family’s mobile home Friday in Ridgeville by his mother, according to The Post and Courier newspaper.
The baby was in a swing when Lucky, a golden retriever-Labrador mix, bit the child several times and tore off his legs, authorities said.
The child’s father, Quintin, was in the home at the time, police said. He was in another room asleep with the family’s 3-year-old and their other dog.
The baby was discovered when his mother, Chantel, came home after taking their seven-year-old to a doctor’s appointment, The Post and Courier reported.

Tried having a dog and trying to play it nipped at my daughters fingers. Dog was on the next ticket out. I keep telling people you never know with a dog. I know someone who swears that their pitbull bulldog mix won’t ever bite her 3 year old even though the three yr old bites the dog.
I don’t have any kids, but I don’t leave my very well-trained dog alone with my iPhone charger cable dangling from a table let alone if I had a 2-month old child.

I almost died last night too….So I was playing PS3 with my BF and it was this gladiator game where u had to swing ur arms like u were one of those dudes on 300 to beat the opponent…well, I played it for about an hour- 2 hours and noticed my arm felt a lil tense afterwards but didnt think nothing of it. Went to take a shower and was washing my face and my arm locked up as my hand was over my nose. Bish went into straight panic mode right there in that shower, cause I thought I was gonna drown…..then I realized, I could just take my left hand and move my right hand from in front of my face so I could breathe again
…….Needless to say, I survived

Dog owners are usually really vocal about defending their dogs but sometimes their “playing” is way to aggressive. The owner may be used to them but how many kids have to die before people remember that they’re animals?? Aren’t pits banned in ny cuz of their violent tendencies? I don’t see how the father slept through that unless he’s a really, really deep sleeper or he was on some type of medication. I’m surprised that the three year old and the other dog weren’t woken up. Very odd story in desperate need of more details.

My GMa was in the hospital once with a lady whose Huskie bit her lip off. She said the dog started getting jealous when she started dating, she was initially a homebody, so, she came home from a date one night and the dog attacked her. A jealous pet/person is a dangerous thing.

I think the family got this dog as a cover up to killing their own child.

Maybe it’s because some dogs act more like humans and some humans act more like vicious animals. Maybe its because most dogs are loving, kind, and precious and some humans are backstabbing, mean, and nasty. I’m a dog person so I’m gonna have to leave this post.

My friends pit tore up his moms walls…he then took him out to the country so he could have more outdoor space and he ended up trying tp bite his cousin so he had to be put down. Crazy ass dog

That’s just mean Phro.
I felt so sorry for her, he almost killed her. He ripped her whole bottom lip off and the only thing that saved her was as a reaction, she grabbed her face and the pressure she put on her lip saved her from bleeding out. That and the fact that her date hadn’t pulled off yet so she was able to get to the hospital quick. She didn’t even make it in the house before the dog attacked her.

Ur probably right but there have been many instances where the dogs had been friendly and then one day just kinda snapped. Wasn’t a pit if I remember correctly but recently on tv a woman was petting a dog with the owner right there and he was fine, next thing you know he was mauling her face.

Had a mutt who was mixed with rott and collie that mfker flucked up my house so bad in the 2 weeks he was there we took his ass back to the pound. The pound neglected to tell us he was abused… He ate through our fence not 1 hole but 5 big ass holes, ate through the door etc.

What’s messed up in some of these dog cases is the chit that some people do to the dogs. Some people try to make these dogs mean watch dogs, attack dogs, or fighting dogs, and they do some fugged up chit to them. This guy I used to work with told me his brother used to rub gun powder on his dogs noses, and sic them on other animals. People are fuggin crazy.

It is so important for you to watch your animals when you have a new baby in the house. the relationship has not been established and because the baby is so small, the dog most likely looked at it as a chew toy. when you see dogs play with their bear they tear them apart. its in their nature. to dominate their pray. bec the relationship has not been established, this dog most likely say the baby has something to dominate. when you have a pet and a small baby they need to be introduced properly so the dog knows this is family. My friend has two little ones and she introduced her dog like this and her dog ended up sitting with the baby all the time as a protector.

I almost died last night too….So I was playing PS3 with my BF and it was this gladiator game where u had to swing ur arms like u were one of those dudes on 300 to beat the opponent…well, I played it for about an hour- 2 hours and noticed my arm felt a lil tense afterwards but didnt think nothing of it. Went to take a shower and was washing my face and my arm locked up as my hand was over my nose. Bish went into straight panic mode right there in that shower, cause I thought I was gonna drown…..then I realized, I could just take my left hand and move my right hand from in front of my face so I could breathe again …….Needless to say, I survived

People can call me mean all they want, I DO NOT LIKE ANIMALS and never did! I don’t want them and don’t like being around them at all. So sad poor baby!
This is one of the reasons why I never wanted a dog around my children when they were babies… people don’t realize that dogs, no matter how tame, no matter how much you consider them “family” are animals, meat eating, strong, scavenger animals. It’s ingrained in them. People (that I know) always complain about cats around babies, when truth be told you need to be more worried about a dog smdh. Until more details come out though I’ll reserve judgement on the father because Lord knows when you have an infant and a toddler, things you normally wouldn’t do (like fall asleep with the baby in the swing) you may do from sheer exhaustion. I’m betting he put the 3 year old down for a nap and knocked the hell out. I pray that’s all that happened and I pray for this family and the mother cause I can’t imagine what they’re going through and hope I never have to
