Comedian/actor Martin Lawrence has lost his trophy wife.
According to People.com, Lawrence and his wife Shamicka have decided to end their marriage.
“Martin and Shamicka Lawrence have decided to divorce,” a rep for the Big Momma’s House star, 47, tells PEOPLE. “The couple has made the joint decision to part ways.”
Not surprisingly, the two were together for 15 years before they finally tied the knot in 2010.
I would say that Shamicka followed Kim Porter’s “Guide for Jump Offs and Gold Diggers” to a tee, but this is no time for jokes.
“Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together,” the couple said in a joint statement released to PEOPLE by his rep.

As someone who is married I can tell you that for some reason unbeknownst to me, it IS different after you get married…both parties have expectations that didn’t seem to be there before the marriage…
why do every woman that dates a man, celeb, athletes, etc that has money has to be a gold digger, so in other words a man with money dont need a woman. I dont think it was a waste of time, 17 yrs committed is just like marriage just without the piece of paper the court give you.(TELLING YOU NOW YOU MARRIED CAUSE WE SAID SO) I think people got this whole thing messed up about marriage, AND HOW MAN has changes the game up. all you need is to go before the LORD make a vow get two witness, sign yall bond, file it at the local register office, umm that will do it, and the divorce same procedure. Sounds like to me she knew two years ago that the relationship was nearing an end and got married because being the ex-wife nets you more coins than simply being the baby mama will at the end of the day.

@Carrington… there was a study out a while ago and from personal experience from the people I know shows that most people who date for years upon years and then get married end up divorcing pretty quickly. If you dated for 15 years and didn’t see the point in marriage in all that time, then that means something is wrong there. And then you get married expecting that slip of paper and ring to mean something and realize the problems are still there and you’re too tired of dealing with the same ol bs to fix it
