Drake opened up about his unresolved daddy issues in a revealing post on his Instagram stories. The 32-year-old Canadian-born rapper was upset that his dad, retired musician Dennis Graham, exposed his lies in an interview with Nick Cannon.
Graham said Drake, who often raps about his absenteeism, tells lies about him to sell records.
“I had a conversation with Drake about that. I have always been with Drake. I talk to him if not every day, then every other day. We really got into a deep conversation about that. I said, ‘Drake, why are you saying all of this different stuff about me? This is not cool.’ He [said], ‘Dad, it sells records.’ Okay, well, cool.”
Drake, an emotional Scorpio, was saddened and dismayed by his father’s remarks.
“Woke up today so hurt man,” Drake wrote in his IG Stories.
“My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with… every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”
Drake’s lyrics are inspired by his early life experiences. He was raised by his single mother, Sandi Graham, 59, in Toronto, and spent short summers with his father in Memphis, Tennessee.
In his rap lyrics, Drake claims his father wasn’t around to instill manliness in him.
The lack of a male role model in his life is apparent in Drake’s feminine tendencies and his inability to maintain stable relationships with women.

In 2017, Drake fathered a son with artist and former adult film star Sophie Brussaux, whom he had only met twice before she fell pregnant.
