President Donald Trump was greeted by boos as he and his wife Melania Trump arrived to attend Game 5 of the 2019 World Series on Sunday. Thousands of Trump supporters cheered and waved red hats at Trump – while his haters waved their fingers.
The Trumps arrived at Nationals Park in DC just hours after Trump announced the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria.
Trump announced that Baghdadi was cornered in a tunnel as US Joint Special Operations Command’s (JSOC) Delta Force conducted a raid in Syria.
As the 48-year-old terrorist was cornered by military canine soldiers, he detonated a vest bomb, killing himself and 3 of his children.
A DNA test was conducted immediately and Baghdadi’s identity was confirmed. Trump celebrated the news on Twitter, saying the once fearsome ISIS leader blew himself up while “whimpering and crying.”
Two dogs suffered minor injuries during the explosion but they have since returned to service.
It was all too much for the leftwing media. The Washington Post called Baghdadi an “austere religious scholar” before changing the headline after a fierce public backlash.
Shocked news outlets remarked that The Washington Post‘s headline was “perhaps the most alarming headline” of all “the sympathetic obituary” headlines mourning Baghdadi’s death.
“He beheaded thousands of innocent people, raped and murdered little girls, and the @washingtonpost calls him an “austere religious scholar,” wrote The Reagan Battalion (@ReaganBattalion).
CNN also mourned the terrorist leader. “Trump Kills Unarmed Father of Three” CNN reported during Don Lemon’s Tonight with Don Lemon show.
The Democrats were similarly outraged that the Trump administration didn’t give them a heads up before raiding Baghdadi’s hideout.
Angry House Speaker Nancy Pelosi demanded to know why Trump notified Russia in advance about the raid but not the Democrats.
“Our military and allies deserve strong, smart and strategic leadership from Washington,” she said on Monday. But President Trump said he declined to notify Pelosi and the others about the raid because “Washington leaks like I’ve never seen before”.
Trump later said the killing of Baghdadi “was more significant than the 2011 operation ordered by his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden”.
And Susan Rice, Obama’s former national security adviser, slammed Trump for not informing Obama ahead of the planned raid. Rice said Trump advising Obama would have been “a matter of courtesy.”
