A suspect wanted in the murders of 2 men outside a Dayton jazz club and a grocery store was captured in the Atlanta metropolitan area on Sunday, Jan. 12.
Christopher Smith was taken into custody in Stockbridge, Ga by the FBI Atlanta’s Violent Crimes Task Force, according to Dayton police.
Smith was charged with murder and felonious assault in the deaths of Clarence Brown and Brandon Harris in separate shootings, WHIOTV 7 reports.
The first shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on Dec. 5 outside Rick’s Jazz Club on Lakeview Avenue. Smith shot Harris and William Earnest during an argument. Harris died at the scene. Earnest survived his injuries.
Nearly 8 hours later, police say Smith shot Brown in front of the Save Food Super Market. Brown died from his injuries at a hospital.
There were multiple witnesses to the shootings. The incidents were caught on surveillance cameras.
