Homicide detectives are investigating the death of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr‘s ex-girlfriend and mother of 3 of his 4 children, Josiel “Josie” Harris.
Harris, 40, was found dead inside her parked car at her home on the 25700 block of Oak Meadow Drive. Police tape still blocked the driveway to the 3-story home in Valencia, California on Wednesday morning.
Police responded to a medical rescue call at the home around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and found Harris unresponsive in her car. The call was later changed to a cardiac arrest and Harris was not transported to a hospital. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:10 p.m.
Police initially said there was no evidence of foul play — an indication that she died from natural causes or a drug overdose.
Harris’ friends and family urged detectives to investigate her death as a homicide. They noted Mayweather served prison time for assaulting her and she filed a $20 million lawsuit against him after he told Katie Couric Harris was drug addicted.
Mayweather, 43, and Harris shared three children, Jirah Mayweather, King Koraun and Zion Mayweather.
