Apparently, Doja has surpassed Cardi in terms of popularity. Industry insiders say Doja — who is all natural — is easier to market than Cardi. The reason? Well, look at Cardi – now look at Doja.
Cardi has had difficulty matching the success of her summer banger “Bodak Yellow.” Rap fans are fickle. They want new music in a timely manner. They will abandon a lazy artist and hop on the next big thing if they don’t get what they want.
That “next big thing” is Doja Cat.
Doja has already surpassed Cardi on Spotify and has the second highest monthly listeners with 29 million among female rappers.
Nicki Minaj remains the most popular female rapper on the platform with 49 million monthly listeners.
Cardi couldn’t take the heat so she unfollowed Doja on social media.
A source told MTO News, “Cardi is a jealous person. Doja has nothing but love in her heart for Cardi. [Cardi] should work through her jealousy and come join this movement.”
