Monique Samuels has had enough of groveling for reality TV checks. The 37-year-old homemaker officially quit The Real Housewives of Potomac and won’t return for Season 6.
The mother-of-two shared the news after the RHOP season 5 finale aired on Sunday. Monique called her reality TV career “a crazy ride” but she’s happy that it’s over.
“What a crazy, crazy, crazy season… It’s not easy doing reality TV and to be quite honest, I’m over it,” she said.
“I appreciate everything people have done for me, everybody that’s been Team Monique I love Y’all, but when you cross certain lines there’s no going back. And for me, my family is that line. The opinion of my family and my kids and what they think about anything that I do is more valuable to me than anybody’s opinion, so, I’m over it.”
The news comes after multiple run-ins with co-star and former friend Candiace Dillard on the set.
Monique got into a hair pulling match with Dillard in 2019 and she was charged with second-degree assault. Then, earlier this month, she was hit with a cease and desist from Pastor Jamal Bryant, who threatened legal action if she didn’t apologize for accusing him of cheating on his wife, Gizelle.
Bryant clapped back, saying Samuels was an abused wife and her husband, former NFL player Chris Samuels, had CTE. The salacious gossip led to rumors that church leaders were considering firing Bryant for bringing shame to the pulpit.
Samuels denied reports that she’d been fired, saying she’d already received her Season 6 contract from Bravo.
In addition to her reality TV gig, Samuels also manages her husband, Chris Samuel‘s real estate investment company, as well as doing a little blogging on the side. Chris is a former left tackle for the Washington Redskins.
The couple were photographed with their two children, Christopher, 7, and Milani, 4, in their Potomac, MD mansion for a photo spread in the Washington Post in 2018.
