Mike Tyson, 54, has confirmed his canceled fight night with fellow boxing legend Evander Holyfield is back on.
Negotiations broke down between the two former champions despite an offer of $25 million to fight for only 3 rounds.
Very few boxers can walk away from a $25 million payday. Both former boxers have fallen on hard times.
Holyfield, 58, moved into a small 2-bedroom condo near Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, after losing his mega mansion, which was purchased at a discount by rapper Rick Ross.
Iron Mike, who infamously bit off a piece of Holyfield’s ear when they met in the ring in 1997, insists the rematch will take place at the end of May.
“I just want everybody to know the fight is on with me and Holyfield,” Tyson said during an Instagram Live session with Haute Living on Tuesday. “Holyfield’s a humble man, I know that, and he’s a man of God but I’m God’s man. Listen, I’m going to be successful May 29th.”
The previous day, Evander’s manager issued a statement saying talks between the two fighters had “fallen apart”.
“We were negotiating in good faith all along and it appears we just ended up wasting our time,” Kris Lawrence said.
If the fight does take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, doctors and emergency medical personnel will be on hand.
