The son of former Patriots player Vince Wilfork was arrested and charged with the theft of his father’s Super Bowl rings.
D’Aundre Holmes-Wilfork, 23, is charged with selling the two Super Bowl rings and other jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Holmes-Wilfork was arrested on May 22 and charged with theft of property greater than $300,000 after Vince Wilfork reported he was missing the expensive jewelry.
The jewels included two Super Bowl rings, two AFC championship rings and a college football championship ring Wilfork won while playing for the Miami Hurricanes.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office complaint also listed the theft of expensive necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
Wilfork discovered the items were missing in May 2020 while moving to a new home, according to the complaint. Wilfork didn’t immediately report the items as stolen, because he thought they were in storage at his second home in Florida.
However, a Patriots fan contacted Wilfork, claiming to have acquired Wilfork’s championship rings.
The fan told Wilfork he paid $62,000 for two championship rings. The rings were turned over to the Friendswood Police Department after they were reported stolen.
Wilfork is a former NFL linebacker who played 13 seasons in the NFL. He played for the New England Patriots in two Super Bowls. He announced his retirement in 2017 after signing a one-day contract with the Patriots.
