An Indianapolis man is charged with shooting his son’s football coach during an argument over his son’s sports-related injury.
Cameron Parks, 43, was ordered to wear a GPS monitor on home detention following his arrest for shooting the unnamed coach.
The incident happened on November 22 after an argument stemming from a youth football game in Tennessee, Fox 59 News reported.
Parks’ son is on the victim’s traveling football team and injured his leg during the Tennessee game.
A witness told police that Parks warned the coach and his girlfriend “they would have to move or would live in fear.”
According to court records, Parks went to the victim’s apartment on the 3600 block of North Chester Avenue and shot the man through his front door.
Officers responding to the scene found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.
According to police, a witness said another man was forced at gunpoint to knock on the victim’s door. When the victim opened the door, the man told him Parks had a gun. The victim slammed the door, but Parks kicked the door then fired through the door, striking the victim in the leg.
Court documents also detail threatening text messages from Parks to the victim.
Parks was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery, Kidnapping, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, and other felonies.
He was booked into jail and posted an 80,000 surety bond, meaning $8,000 was paid in cash.
