An enraged wedding guest brought his pitbull to a wedding reception and ordered it to attack the new bride, according to Denver police.

Brittany Schults suffered multiple dog bites as her new husband attempting to fend off the animal.

Police say Joel Neveraz (pictured above right) was upset about something that occurred during the wedding on Saturday in North Denver. He left the reception and returned with his pitbull, which he ordered to attack Schultz.

“I begged and pleaded with him ‘Just stop. Bring the dog home, it’s my wedding. Don’t do this, don’t do this,’ ” Schults told CBS4.

Schults said Neveraz suffered from several mental illnesses. “At one point and time he was a best friend. Someone I thought I could trust, someone I thought would never let anyone hurt me,” she told CBS4.

“He said ‘Sic her. Sic her,’” she said. “The dog dragged me to the ground and shook me in its mouth.” The dog also attacked Schultz’s new husband, according to CBS4.

“Joel stood there with the leash in hand laughing, laughing that the dog was biting me,” she said.

Neveraz also attacked Schultz with brass knuckles. “It was terrible. It made a beautiful party into something I’ll never forget.” she said.

According to CBS4, Neveraz has a criminal history, including assault on a police officer.

Friends believe Neveraz is headed to Mexico where he has family. His last text message to friends read: “2 more stops then I hit my death bed nice knowin all yall ain’t this wat use want: (yup it will be a sick death but i aint going alone”

The dog is quarantined at an animal shelter. Police warn that Neveraz should be considered dangerous.
