The White House press secretary’s response about how President Joe Biden got COVID left Twitter users seeing red.
The White House announced Joe Biden was infected with the COVID-19 virus on Thursday, July 21.
Biden, 79, reportedly has mild symptoms, such as a low-grade fever that returned to normal after a dose of Tylenol.
The White House released a photo of a maskless Biden working at his desk in the White House residence while on lockdown.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre interrupted a reporter’s exchange with the White House COVID-19 coordinator about where the President contracted the virus.
“I don’t think that matters” where he got the virus, said Jean-Pierre. She later clarified what she meant, saying “what’s important now is that he has mild symptoms.”
“I think what matters is we prepared for this moment,” Jean-Pierre added.
She then clarified her clarification: “What I was trying to say is what’s important now is that he has mild symptoms, is that he’s working from the residence on behalf of the American people.”
Biden contracted the virus despite being vaccinated and boosted four times.
He tested positive for the coronavirus exactly a year after he said “vaccinated people won’t catch COVID-19.”
Jean-Pierre said Biden is being treated with Paxlovid, an antiviral medication similar to Tamiflu. She said he will be in isolation for five days or until he has received a negative test.
