From a Press Release:
R&B star Ashanti has teamed up with the producers of Ugly Betty and The Office to create a new reality TV contest.
The singer/actress has just signed a deal with the brains behind Reveille Productions to produce and host her own version of American Idol.
Details of the show are being kept tightly under wraps, but Ashanti’s manager/mother Tina Douglas tells WENN, “It’s an unscripted television show that is definitely music related. We’ll be revealing more in the coming weeks.
“She has her own record label, called Written Entertainment, and the show is going to revolve around her label… It’s going to be really big.”
I don’t know about that last bit.

I won’t be watching
The answer is NO we do not. Good luck to her though. It’s sad that when she couldn’t sing well, it was the epitome of her career and now that she has obviously been coached vocally and can sing well, she is struggling. That speaks volumes about the entertainment business today.
I thought reality shows were for D listers? Isn’t a reality show career suicide? With the right management team she could have had a come back.
Go ahead shani and make that money! if monica, tiny, toya, fantasia & kandi can do it so can shani…. Pow!
i also hear she’s coming up with a film production company called Singing Entertainment.
no we dont need another reality show. dont your life have to be interested for a reality show?
with the right amount of talent she could have come back……but we all know that ain’t happening
Good morning SR Family!!!!
I am sooooo tired of the industry giving out reality shows to everyone who has a pitch idea for them. The novelty has definitely worn off. But, anyways…..

Did anyone watch 16 and pregant last night???
The little bish Janelle was something else, wasn’t she?
I wanted to smack her in her face for the way she was talking to her mom. Little evil arse!!! Ugh! She made me so mad not taking care of her responsibilities, coming and going as she pleased. And then she had the audacity to say that having her baby is like being in jail. Bish, please!!! You should have kept your legs closed, trying to be grown with that low-life you were laying with. And he was supposed to have been a model? Yeah, okay. I just feel sorry for her mom, not only does she have to take care of Janelle…but little Jace too.
Before the “paps” celebs use to be a mystery. I don’t need to know what they ate for dinner and who they dined with. Twitter and other outlets has made celebs much more reachable and that is why ppl think they are a friend in their head. Also to add, so many shows are making no names household names over night, i.e. Danger and Tila. What happend to the classy broads for yesteryear? Joan Collins, Dianne Carrol, I want my old tv back. Did anyone see “Thelma” (Good Times) on TvOne yesterday, she is still beautiful as ever.
I just love Ashanti. I will support anything she does…even if it is another reality show.
Team Ashanti

Janelle’s friends were trying to give her constructive critisim. You know they wanted to call her all kinds of other choice words. If you don’t allow a teen to take care of their own child it only gives them more freedom to make another one. I know her mom is really trying to raise both Janelle and Jace but Janelle needs to “women up”.
If Mama Douglas will be on the show, I just may watch. Hearing Ashanti say “bananas” every five minutes might be a dealbreaker for me.

I totally agree with you. She does need to woman up, but I think she thought it was going to be “fun”. And I think she thought having a baby was going to make her BD step it up and get his life together. I just couldn’t get over how she was speaking to her mom. I liked her friends, they seem to have good heads on her shoulders.
Ashanti favors Janet Jackson in this pic, the Janet when she’s piled on some pounds
My baby sister (she’s 20) is pregnant. My nephew will be here in April. Yay!! But, anyway I can understand how the mom just stepped in. You can’t really sit back and watch dysfunction waiting to happen and not step in. My sister is way too immature, she doesn’t know the value of a dollar, and never worked for anything in her life!!! She’s lazy, spoiled, and seems to have not a bit of dayuum sense!!! So, I know that I am going to be “stepping in” to make sure the baby is alright. Because if I don’t she will do something stupid/ignorant and I would end up phuking her arse up about him. And then I am going to be on here begging for my SR family to bail me out. I just know it……
That 16 n preg show was all types of wrong last night, not only was the BD very disrectful to the mom and her, at this point because she did not have an abortion/give the baby up for adoption, if I were the mother I would put her a@@ out and keep the baby and KIM. Her friends gave her really good advice though, but she knew that guy wasn’t going to step up, at one point she said she had not spoken to hin in like 2wks wth, and then they were txting each other…hello if I’m preggo’s we need to talk not txt.

Yes she said she had not talked to him since the delivery.
TEAM ASHANTI!!!
We don’t need another reality show BUT it seems to be the only way black people are able to get work so I aint mad. I’d rather see black reality shows then a bunch of yt sitcoms.
Now as far as the record label. She may be in over her head. How many artist more estabished then her have failed.
Mary
good luck tho.
MiMi
Shoot even MJ record company only put out Brownstone.
I won’t be watching but if Miss Piggy (Tiny) can do it hell so can Ashanti at least she speaks cleary and you can understand what the HELL she’s saying to Tiny & Toys
cosign KaraZ, she is looks a lot like Janet in this pic.
I love her personality, Ill tune in when the show comes out!
I don’t know either Sandra
I’ll watch Kim K’s PR one since it seems interesting and looks like I’ll learn more inside the industry. Another music talent search/label info? Been there, done that with Diddy, etc
Not lil scoot scoot Ashanti….as long as she doesn’t try to dance…sing…uhm…dance…oh yeah and sing…
doesn’t say that the show was picked up…Ashanti bores me to death. I couldn’t imagine watching a reality show staring her…why do they need one? Maybe she needs to concentrate on putting a hot single out.
i might not be able to watch ashanti. she giggles so much when she talks that it gets on my nerves. but good luck with that, everybody is doing it because that’s where the money is.
