RIP: Bob Marley’s grandson Jo Mersa Marley dies at 31

Bob Marley‘s grandson Joseph Mersa Marley died on Tuesday, Dec. 27. He was found slumped behind the steering wheel of his car, according to Florida radio station WZPP.

The radio station claims he died of an asthma attack. It’s unclear how the station confirmed his cause of death without an autopsy report in hand.

The aspiring singer went by the stage name Jo Mersa. His father is Bob Marley’s son, Stephen Marley, 50.

Reggae icon Bob Marley fathered 11 children with seven different women. He died from melanoma (cancer) of his big toe in 1981 at the age of 36.

Jo Mersa Marley spent his youth in Jamaica, where he attended Saints Peter and Paul Preparatory School. He then moved to Palmetto, Florida where he attended Palmetto High School. He went on to study studio engineering at Miami Dade College, according to DailyMail.com.

Jo Mersa leaves behind a wife and daughter, according to WZPP.
