Kodak Black made a dramatic entrance in a Broward County courtroom on Tuesday, Feb. 28, after a judge issued an arrest warrant when he tested positive for fentanyl while out on bond on Feb. 8.

Kodak Black, who legally changed his name to Bill Kapri, wore a color block custom tailored suit into court. He was accompanied by his attorney, Bradford Cohen.

Cohen immediately made the excuse that Kapri’s urine sample may have been mixed up with someone else’s due to a star-struck lab technician, according to WPLG Local 10 News.

The person who collected the urine sample testified in court that it was possible that an error was made in the lab.

Judge Barbara Duffy wasn’t buying that excuse, but the state agreed to take a hair sample on Tuesday to determine whether Kapri used any illegal drugs recently.

“But not by that gentleman,” the judge said, referring to the lab employee who testified on Tuesday.

However, Kapri refused to provide the hair sample, so the judge ordered him to enter a drug rehab facility for 30 days as part of his pre-trial release. She granted Cohen’s request that the rapper enter drug rehab a week from Tuesday so he can perform at this weekend’s Rolling Loud festival in California. Some of his booking proceeds will go to charity, Cohen said.

“You better get it together,” Judge Duffy told Kapri, suggesting that this may be his last chance to remain outside of prison walls.

Florida Highway Patrol officers found 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash in Kapri’s vehicle when he was pulled over during a traffic stop in July 2022.

The lengthy police body cam video showed his mother crying and threatening to kill herself if he was taken to jail.

The 24-year-old Pompano Beach native, also violated the terms of his supervised release in a federal gun case by failing a drug test in September 2021.

Kapri was sentenced to 46 months in prison in a gun case in late 2019. However, his sentence was commuted by former President Donald Trump in January 2021.

Kapri is known for his philanthropic efforts in Pompano Beach and Miramar, Florida, where he currently resides.
