A Virginia man who reportedly shot his family before making a music video was killed in a shootout with police in North Carolina last month.
Tiye Washington, a.k.a. aspiring rapper EGYPXN, died in a shootout that left a sheriff’s deputy wounded, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said.
Washington, 26, was a suspect in a triple shooting in Richmond on March 28.
Police confirmed Washington shot his mother, brother and sister after forcing entry into their home. He allegedly made a music video before going on the run.
The three victims were treated at an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The deputy is expected to recover.
Washington had arrest warrants for three counts of Malicious Wounding and three counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
According to VladTV.com, Washington pre-scheduled the release of his last music video, “Be Free,” for the afternoon of his death.
A GoFundMe page raised over $3,200 for Washington’s burial expenses.
The family thanked supporters in a message left on the page.
“I would like to thank each person who has donated, on behalf of my brother Adam Washington, who is in great mourning for his only son Tiye. We have reached more than 25% of our goal. As difficult as it has been for our family, we are more than grateful for your help with these final expenses. Thank you.”
