Reader Haley White wasn’t thrilled with yesterday’s post on Stacey Dash endorsing Mitt Romney. She took issue with the fact that Planned Parenthood started out as a racist organization that mass sterilized black women.

Sandra, you got me f*cked up with that planned parenthood bullshit. They are a good and helpful organization, and one of the ONLY ones here in texas that help low income, no insurance people. Which is not just black people thank you very much. When my sister and her husband divorced she didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford care at her normal doctors.
She needed birth control, pap smears, cancer testing and more. They also provide free condoms a lot of the time. Ive even heard of some clinics offering diabetes testing! Who do you think is going to do that?! I pray that when I have to quit my job and go part time somewhere so I can go back to school that there is a planned parenthood around so that I can actually afford the medical treatment that women deserve. You have seriously upset me this crap. Ugh.

For your readers comments, I go to school part time now, work full time also. I am trying to become a doctor. I have applied for pell grants and was denied. I will one day ask for scholarships when school becomes too demanding, but I will ALWAYS work part time also. Just to clarify. I am not asking for hand outs in terms of pp. I am asking that there be affordable help, should I, or anyone else, need it.

I just believe it’s more so people are aiming to throw out the bad and ugly and not look at what planned parenthood is doing today. They help a lot of women and young girls…whether it was a bad decision, a fall on hard times, or an unfortunate event that had taken place, they help.
