Brandy was more commercial. She was able to do TV. The kids at that time were able to relate to her lyrics and voice verses Monica. Monica’s voice is more soulful and she would have been too mature to have a carried a Moesha type role. I blame Mo’s PR people because they could have done better with her career when Space Jam came out and she did that song for the soundtrack. For You I Will. She got more exposure and that would have been the perfect in to cross her over.

I’ve seen this myself and it makes me sad. I personally don’t think it’s a good idea for her to let a man who is not married to her call shots in her career. It’s very pathetic how she goes on and on about him publicly as well. Without the ring she’s basically looking desperate and making a fool of herself.
