Back in 2018 Freddie Jackson said he lost over 100 pounds through diet and exercise.

His fans were concerned that the “You Are My Lady” singer was terminally ill or on his death bed.

Now the R&B singer says he has been diagnosed with kidney disease.

In a video, Jackson said “I have been diagnosed with kidney disease. This journey has had its challenges. But I’ve decided to face it with openness and resilience. It’s important to me that I share this with you, not just as a part of my personal story, but as a way to make a positive difference.”

Jackson, 67, announced he has “partnered with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness about kidney health and support for those who are affected by kidney disease.”

Jackson thanked his fans for their encouragement, love and support.

In an interview with WBLS radio in 2018, Jackson dismissed rumors that he had HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Jackson said he lost 107 pounds by living a healthier lifestyle and changing his bad eating habits.

He also said he lost weight as a natural process of getting older.

“I couldn’t do anything about getting older. We’re gonna get older by the grace of God,” he said at the time.

Jackson added that he didn’t want to wait for his doctor to tell him, “You’ve got to lose 50 pounds.”

The singer said he “grabbed the bulls by the horn” and took control of his life.
