A star high school basketball player was ambushed and killed outside his home in the Feltonville neighborhood of Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Noah Scurry, 17, was shot multiple times in the alleyway behind his North Philadelphia rowhome as he was getting into the car with his mom at 7:15 a.m.
Noah was on his way to Samuel Fels High School with his mom when he was shot, School District of Philadelphia spokesperson Monique Braxton said.
“I heard gunshots — multiple — and then just screaming from the mom,” one neighbor told NBC10. “I can still hear the mom’s cry, seeing her baby on that floor like that.”
NBC10 obtained exclusive surveillance video that shows a white SUV at the scene of the shooting. On Wednesday, police said the stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee was found abandoned in Northeast Philadelphia.
Noah was killed a day after releasing his first drill rap song on Instagram and YouTube.
Noah was a member of the Fels Panthers boys basketball team.
In addition to his basketball skills, Noah was a star in the classroom. He recently posted the highest SAT scores of any student in his school.
“We condemn the senseless gun violence in Philadelphia that continues to have lasting impacts on our children and their families,” the school district said in a statement.
Noah’s mom drove him to school everyday because the neighborhood was a gang hangout. She likely had no idea her son was a gang member.
A GoFundMe account raised $2,500 for Noah’s funeral expenses.
